Megan, on August 13, 2012 at 3:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I have called around to find a pastor/minister to marry us. left messages. we do not belong to a church, nor really a religion. should we ask a judge? We are having a outside ceremony.

Are there no Justice of the Peaces in your area?

Have you tried the vendor search on WW?

You can have a judge, or look online for local officiants to marry you. We don't belong to a church in our area either, however wanted a more personalized ceremony than a judge could offer. Also, as your reception site if they have any recomendations for local officiants.

You should be able to find an officiant in your area, not necessarily a pastor/priest. I'll second using the vendor search, or perhaps adding where you are from to the title of the post so ladies in your area can help or make recommendations.

I searched for officiants through the WW vendor search. It was simple and all officiants that I reached out to were quick to reply.

I put LeMars, IA (that is from your profile) in for the vendor search, it came up with 3 pages of listings, try giving some of them a call and let us know if you are still at a deadend.

You could also ask one of your family members to get ordained and they could marry you.

We also found ours through WW vendor search. We currently do not belong to a church. We are using a non-denominational officiate.

We are actually having FH childhood friend officiate. He also did other friend's ceremony and it was really special having him do it since they all had such a history together. We are in the same boat, we do not belong to a church, but the preacher were we go sometimes agreed to do it. However, it was really meaningful for FH to have his friend do it. He got ordained online. I know people scoff at it, but when you aren't close with a clergy member, it can be awkward. My best friend had to use a minister they did not know (she's Catholic, he's not) and it was horrible. Minister was recommended by her friend, but he actually ended up scolding her during the ceremony for "interrupting" him. She cried so much afterwards.

I actually went through WW vendor search but I'm also having a friend do ours. My friend is an ordained minister but he is not authorized to perform marriages in the state of Nevada. So I have to have someone who is authorized to sign the license. So my friend will be doing the ceremony for us and then after the ceremony the officiant that I found from the state of Nevada will say a few words and we will sign the license and she will take care of mailing it in for us and we will be all set.

Search for an independent, possible non-denominational officiant in your area. One of our friends actually got ordained to marry us. Smiley laugh

I see that WW has advertisments for officants all the time through the vendor seach. You may want to check that out. Im sure it can be someone to marry you without it being a pastor/priest & would marry you at your venue of choice.

We found our pastor through WW, he did our pre-marital too. You'll find someone. You can also ask your other vendors if they have any referrals.

Your profile pic from afar looks like you are all sitting on a kid, I thought it was a joke like this one.
