Miranda

How we met... It was summer of 2008, the day after the 4th of July in Panama City Beach, FL. Miranda was on vacation with her family and had just recieved a text from her good friend Chris. He was bragging about how he was spending his 4th of July weekend at the beach. Little did he know, she was there too! They set plans to hang out later that night, but there was one catch - he was bringing along a friend... He said... "Ok, if I'm being honest, that night started out for me with a choice between sitting alone in our roach-infested motel or going to meet another one of Chris' annoying friends. Obviously, I chose the second one, but not only did Miranda turn out to be one of best people Chris knew, but she also became one of the best people I've ever known. I thought she was so hot and cool (how does she do that?), so I lied about liking photography and tried to sweep her off her feet. I guess it worked, because here were are 3 years later, happy and engaged!" She said... "The first time I met Jack, I felt an instant connection. It could have been that we had a lot in common - we shared a similar passion for photography (not-so-much on his part) and we were both so easy going (not-so-much on my part). Ok, no. It probably wasn't that. But his sense of humor hit a home run with me! I spent half the night smiling and the other half laughing. He was spontaneous and smart, and he didn't care what others thought of him. He was a welcome breath of fresh air and I knew he was someone I wanted in my life."   How we got engaged... It was Friday night, November 18, 2011. Miranda had just gotten home from work and was walking to the door of the apartment that she and Jack shared when she saw a rose and a heart with a message inside that read "Follow us..." She opened the door and saw the apartment was filled with roses of every color. The white, pink, and yellow ones were laying on tables and chairs and the red ones were leading toward the bedroom. Along the way, there were hearts that said "Keep going..." "Getting warmer..." and "Almost there..." Finally, she came to the bedroom door. There was a rose on the door and a heart that said "Come in..." She slowly opened the door... He said... "Even though I'm not romantic by nature, I had taken several hours to think of and put together the proposal. I was nervous waiting on her to come home (and trying to make sure our cat didn't eat the roses before she could see them). I checked outside for her car about every 20 seconds. I knew this was taking a big step, but I was very excited to be taking it with her. As she came in the room, I ran through my speech one more time in my head but it still probably didn't come out exactly like I wanted it to. It must have sounded OK, though, because she said 'Yes!'" She said... "My heart was pounding from the minute I saw the note on the front door. It was overwhelming, but wonderful at the same time. Then, when I got to the bedroom and I opened the door and saw Jack standing there - all the butterflies just went away and I couldn't help but think how handsome he looked (mind you, he doesn't dress up often)! I don't even remember much of what went on between that moment and when he hugged me afterwards, I just know it was everything I could have hoped for. And for all those people who know me as a cry baby, I didn't cry! I kept it together! ...Until dinner later that night. Oh well!"
