Originally my fiance and I had decided to have our bridal party all sit together at one table at the reception. Upon further thought, we realized that the entire grooms side, and 1 bridesmaid were married.

What are some suggestions from people who have had a bridal party member who was married? Do we all sit at one big table? Or do we just seat the spouses elsewhere?

Open to ALL opinions and suggestions!

I like to pick different meals than FH so we can share. We like variety. My parents do that too. I would keep that in mind.

ETA: I have a small bridal party so everyone is at the head table with us. I made the SO bouts and corsages too.

We are doing a sweetheart table and our bridal party will be seated near our table but with their own families and social circles.

We're having our WP and their significant others/+1s sit with us at one long table. Honestly, I wouldn't feel right asking our wedding party to travel to our wedding and not spend a significant part of the evening with whoever they bring, married or not.

I did a head table and included WP SOs. It was really only my brother's girlfriend and one BM's boyfriend because everyone except my MOH was single at the time and her boyfriend didn't come, basically because of logistics.

I disagree with separating WP from their SOs at the reception. It has nothing to do THEM not being able to "survive" without their partner for an evening; it is about the bride and groom showing a little consideration for the people who have supported them. I would want my WP to have the most enjoyable time possible at my reception. And I've never been to a reception where dinner last only 20 minutes.

Sweetheart table or a Kings table are the way to go. Traditional head tables are just outdated and lame.

We're doing a "king's table" where all the SOs and WP sit with us at one large head table. FH was adamant about not having a sweetheart table (I didn't want one either), and our WP is small enough that we'd only need to put 3 tables together to make it work.

We are sitting alone, i guess sweetheart table. Our bridal party is small, only best man, moh and 2 ring bearers. but we are having them sit with other guests they know. and the ring bearers with their parents. We want to make sure every one feels comfortable.

We are doing a sweetheart table for this reason and because I don't like feeling like people, are watching me eat.

Most of my wedding party is family and family friends so we all know each other, for this reason i am having all the spouses at one table separate from the wedding party

I guess I don't see the appeal of a head table because it looks like everyone is on display as they eat dinner. That is a little weird to me. Like someone else said, it's not royal court.

I'm glad we are doing a sweetheart table!

I wouldn't sit the spouses together, I'm pretty sure once the music gets going they will be on the dance floor. If your uneasy about them being apart simply make a sweetheart table.

They will be fine if they are separated.

We were at a wedding where FH was the best man, he sat with the party, I sat with the other spouses of the party we had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. Made a few friends that way!

I haven't read the other comments, but I was in 2 weddings where we sat away from our SO, it was awkward for HIM, more than me.

In both instances, I was lucky he was placed with either my family or a friend that he could talk to who knew me. If that had not been the case, he would have not known anyone at his table.

It works out well if there are multiple people that everyone know, and the bridal party SO is not alone at some table.

I loved the bridal parties as a whole, but after not seeing my FH all day, I wanted, personally to eat with him, talk with him, and interact with him

@jenny I agree! The SO should definitely be seated together. Whether that’s at the head table or not is totally up to the bride; but I agree they should consider seating SO with their mates! I have a wedding to attend this weekend and my fiancé is in the wedding party (just found out that he’s in the wedding party 2 days before the flight and 4 days before the actual wedding, might I add- major eye roll). I’m a big girl yes, but I will be uncomfortable if I’m not seated with him. I’m not close with anyone other than him, so I’m gonna feel a type of way and most likely that way will be annoyed and lonely.
