Have you thought about going from Two Rings to One?

Singing Diva, on July 12, 2013 at 2:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Hi Ladies,

Im not new to the forum but havent been very active in about a year (shame on me). Got Married May 2012. :-)

Anywho.... For the ladies who are married have you considered just wearing one band? For the soon to be wed... have you thought about not buying a wedding band at all (wearing only your engagement ring)? I do have an engagement ring and a wedding band and now I kind of wish I just had one ring...not two. I know that I could get a brace or fuse the rings together, but I really dont want to do that. Just curious to hear your thoughts :-)

I wear my engagement ring only about 1/2 the time, maybe even less. I like having the option of wearing one or both. I wouldn't want to completely stop wearing my ering though.

I love the two rings. I actually have two even though I'm not married yet. One is a plain band for wearing a work and one is my actual diamond engagement ring. I like to wear them together when we go out. I've already told FH what band I want for our 5 year anniversary to go with my diamond set, lol.

I'm going to just keep stacking!

When we went shopping for our wedding bands, I couldn't find any that I liked with my engagement ring. So, instead, I just got a whole new ring! I much prefer just having one band.

Since you already have both, you could wear the band on your left hand and the e-ring on your right.

I like to wear both of mine on a day to day basis. I've thought of having them soldered together for convenience sake, tracking 1 ring and not 2 and not having them slip so the jewel sets line up.

But I also like the option of being able to take the diamond engagement ring off and just wear the more simple band if we're camping, traveling, swimming, etc...

For now I'll keep them separate, but keep wearing both of them.

J&B thats actually what happened with me. Went shopping for the band and really didnt like how they matched up with my E-ring. I eventually picked a band but wasnt thrilled about it. lol! I didnt even consider changing the E-ring...it would have probably crushed my now hubby's feelings.

Hmmmm maybe on our 10 year anniversary we both can upgrade and I can go from two bands to one lol!

I love the sets, where the band locks into the ring. My mother had one, and thats what I want. Yes, that means a whole new ring.

My hunni has said that he wants to get me a new ring each year for our anniversary. I figured I would just get different "interesting" bands and wear them interchangeably.

    I am a jewelry girl...

I will likely ask him to get me various wide bands to wear (see pic). Plus I will have two bands to go with my engagement ring (I have a three ring set) so I will likely still wear the two bands around anything new that I get in the future...

It's kind of nice though, because since we have been dating, he has purchased me earrings for special occassions...Now we are getting married, he plans to buy me rings. I guess I will ask for bracelets in exchange for babies...haha!

I only wore my wedding band after my first wedding. I didn't like all that metal on my hand. I don't know if I'll feel that way this time or not, but I refused to let FH buy me an expensive wedding ring. I love my engagement ring so if I choose to only wear one ring this time as well it will be my engagement ring.

It's a 3 stone ring so people don't automatically assume it's an e-ring. It could be an anniversary ring for all they know. I like that about it actually.

After 30+ years of marriage, my mom combined her e ring and wedding ring from two into one. Originals were delicate white gold with marquis cuts lengthwise on wedding band and two on either side of the round center of the e ring.

today it is on a large wide yellow gold back with the 5 marquis surrounding the same round diamond - sort of like a sun and rays.

I'm not married yet, but I picked out my own engagement ring. (literally said "that one! size 5.5"...after more than 5 years, you know it's coming, just don't know when)

I picked out a wedding set, so we already have the wedding band. I personally can't wait to wear them together. I want to have them soldered together so they will be one ring and won't spin separately from each other.

I tend to notice people's hands. (it's my thing) So I will often say to a woman just wearing her wedding band (and I've seen her wear both before) "Oh no! did something happen to your engagement ring?" (probably rude on my part) -- But what I'm saying is, be prepared for that response from others.

I don't wear my e-ring to work, so I plan on wearing only my band to work after the wedding. Everywhere else I wear my e-ring, so I'll wear both outside of work.

I know several people that only wear their ering that are married

I also know several people that only wear their wedding band.

If we got married and i stopped wearing the ering FH would be super upset because he spent so much on it.

My mom has a beautiful e-ring but she rarely wears it. She usually just wears her very simple, plain wedding band. She'll whip out the e-ring for a night out though. I think it's cool to have the option.

Vanessa, please don't say that to people. That's just not cool. Lots of people choose not to have an engagement ring.

    Back on topic...

I got married a month and a half ago and I had always assumed I'd just wear the wedding band after the wedding. I had honestly never realized people wear both somehow (and this isn't my first marriage lol). Once I realized, I changed my plan. I'm wearing both, but at some point I'll just wear the wedding band most of the time and the e-ring on special occasions.
