Have you ordered a dress online from Davids Bridal? And returned it?

Brittany, on March 4, 2016 at 8:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

Im thinking about ordering a dress from Davids Bridal online because they have a huge sample sale. Ive been into the store and tried on some of the same silhouette so I know what size I need. Im worried about ordering a style online in my size and not liking the way it looks on me and then returning it. It states online how to return it and that they will refund the purchase price. However it says they will not refund shipping costs. Does anyone know how much it would cost, rough ball park estimate, to return a dress? I dont want to spend $500 on a dress, not like it, and want to return it but the shipping costs be like $100 out of pocket. Any one have any insight into this? Would really appreciate some feedback

I bought my dress and exchanged it for a different one but from what they told me that day is that they only do EXCHANGES. They don't do a refund on money so if you're not completely sure, I wouldn't purchase it since you won't be getting that money back.

Corinne - thats what you pay when you order it. I am wondering what it will cost to return it through FedEx or UPS. Thank you though.

Nancy - If you buy in store they only do exchanges. For purchases online will be return.

I assume you'd be able to return it at any David's Bridal store. That's how it works for most online retailers with physical stores.

Jessica - Unfortunately no. Any online only purchase can only be returned online

A large flat rate box from USPS is $18.75, and that would probably be enough for a dress (unless it's super poofy maybe). You would probably also want to insure it which would add a few dollars. Weight is what really increases the cost to send packages, so it wouldn't be too bad. This is assuming you're in the US. International shipping would be more. That said, I had to return something to England once and the shipping was about $50, so I don't think a dress would approach anything near $100 for domestic shipping.

Hi Brittany, I ordered a dress on David's Bridal and returned it. I returned it via UPS from NJ to PA and its wasn't bad at all. I think the most I spent in shipping was maybe $10. So it depends where you are. Also, it took them about 2 weeks,if that, but they fully refunded the money.

Have you gone to try dresses on yet? Bridal sizes are completely different than street sizes and they look so different on! I would have never thought my dress would flatter my figure and dresses that I thought would look good didn't. I would only purchase online if I already tried it on in the store.

I know most bridal dresses have a different sizing scale than street clothing, but at David's Bridal I found both their wedding and bridesmaid dresses to be pretty true to size. I tried on some dresses from the White by Vera Wang collection as well as the David's Bridal label and I was a 6 in all of them, which is also what I'd wear off the rack.

I'm not sure about shipping cost but I don't think it will be very expensive at all.

Kristina -Thank you so much! Very helpful

Bellamae - Yes I did go in and try some dresses on. Whats crazy is that the exact same dress i found on davidsbridal.com in the sample sale for $500 is $1200 in the actual Davids Bridal store. So ladies if you find something in the store I would HIGHLY suggest checking online before you buy it in store.

Rebecca - I was one size larger at Davids Bridal than I normally wear. So yeah they are pretty close compared to other places.

I may end up buying online also. So far the sample price is 50 less then the regular order. As for the return I just sold my regret dress and it's only going to cost 18 something to ship to the buyer.

What style is the dress? If its really puffy, it may be hard to squeeze in a box! I know my dress took up my entire car trunk!

For reference, I ordered my puffy petticoat (slip under dress) from Tradesy.com and the postage on the box for the petticoat was just over $30. There was no way to really flatten the pouf of it.

Were you able to try on the style you want to order? They can tell you in store what size they think you are. try on the exact style and get measured. Even from dress to dress in DB you could wear a different size

Definitely check online. My dress was like $250 cheaper online than in the store and I got it in two weeks instead of months later. I tried it on in the store and ordered it from the website after I decided.

Read the fine print. The sample sale dresses are final sale only. Exchanges don't apply to them.

Eta: I did get my second dress for the reception via their sample sale. Can't beat $200 for a dress I only bought to save my main dress from being damaged before our big photo shoot after the wedding!

Yes, and yes! I went to the store first, tried on a few dresses and the one I liked wasn't available in white at the store. I purchased it online but it ended up being too big, so I returned it (I used the original box it came in, just stuck another label with my info on top of theirs) and got my money refunded to me within a week. I paid about $10 for shipping with a tracking #. And the best is that when I went to purchase the same dress in a smaller size online my dress was on sale for $99!

Hello, I bought my dress online and it was the wrong size. I am from the south

do you think it will take long for mine to process? It says on the website that it may take up to 2 billing cycles to refund/process. And my wedding is in 2 months....
