Had my final fitting today...and I HATE the bustle!!

Ana , on September 10, 2012 at 7:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

I love how the dress fit me...but I cant stand the bustle.

I was sad/mad the whole time at the store...

It looks weird to me and there is no other way to hang the train Smiley sad

How can this go from pic #1 to pic #2??? urghhhhhhh

HATE IT!!

I wasnt going to, but I am now getting a reception dress...

When do you actually put it on?? Before big entrance or after dinner??

Is that a "french bustle" where it bustles under like that? Honestly, I don't care for that style of bustle in general. I knew I wanted a standard bustle, where the extra fabric comes up in the back to bustle in a point near your bottom.

Didn't they give you any options for bustle styles, or an idea of how it would look before they completed it?

Ok, I know nothing about bustles because I don't have one, but there has got to be a better way! Can you take it to another seamstress to see if they can do it better? I don't blame you, that doesn't look good and I wouldn't be happy with it either, but I just don't believe that's the only way to do it! Get a second opinion before you give up on it.

Instead of using the bustle you might be able to put a strap on the trane and have it attached to your wrist. I wouldn't want mine bustled like that either. So sorry you have to deal with this. hugs from me too

You should be able to tell them that you don't like it. Could you have it changed to the standard bustle? I think that would go better with the line of the dress.

I can't believe they can't bustle it in another style! There are MANY more options. But, I hate bustles in general. I think they are typically ugly. My dress thank god when bustled has so many ruffles it fades into it.

With ALL that said, usually there are local seamstresses, start asking around. And in the meantime, here is a list of several different types of bustles, and pictures to go with!

I just got off the phone with the store and complaint...

I was so not happy with this, I had no words...funny because usually I talk back until I get what I want...I only said it looked weird!!

They are going to try the standard bustle this time...hopefully it will look better!!

    I refuse to wear this!

Gorgeous gown! If your wedding is indoors, I personally would rather deal with it dragging it around and cleaning afterwards. If it's not, that sucks because that's not a very decent bustle. Smiley sad Stick to the idea of the reception dress change in case you can't find someone who can do a better job. <3

I think the austrian bustle looks great, but I'm not sure if all bustle types will work on all dresses, but you can give them an idea of how you would like it to work. I wish you the best of luck!

I was terrified when I found a dress I liked, but it had a train! So I found that link a while ago!

Hello - Hope I can help. The underbustle is NOT the only way to bustle your dress. They can do a pinch bustle where there are little pinches here and there on the train to make it shorter. They can do a pick up bustle which is a french bustle only done in many layers. Your dress can have an overbustle - yes your train is long but they can put the overbustle up in two or more layers. I will try to post some example links. I used to be an alterations training manager for DB, so I should know.

Shannah - I actually think that the One-Point Overbustle or Three Point Over-Bustle is what I need...Thank you soo much, I see a light now!

You were so helpful! I was miserable all day today thinking about this bustle Smiley sad

Hope they can do something about it...or Im changing right after the ceremony!!

Your train is very heavy - so one point won't hold the weight. However they can put the center up to three buttons and then put two more over top of it. Plus you will need something toward the side because the sides will be too long. You can do a combination of overbustle in the center and then underbustle points to the side.

YIKES! I can totally understand why you don't like it! I have a long train too but my seamstress did a 3-point over bustle and it looks awesome - especially since with the over bustle you can still see all the beautiful detail which would be totally hidden with an under-bustle like what they did for yours.

So glad they are having you come back and that thanks to @Christine you have pics you can show them. Be sure to post a pic of what it looks like with a different bustle!
