Going clubbing the night before your wedding?!

shayandbae, on October 16, 2017 at 9:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

My bestfriend is having a celebration of union this Saturday and talking about having a girls night the night before when we have to be at the church ready by 12pm the next day. Mind you she's already married and is calling this a girls night (aka bachelorette party). She asked for head count of who all would be there and no one responded... Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy talk? Is it rude to tell her I'm not a fan of it? Personally bc I am not going to be in a great mood on the day of her ceremony bc I'm going to be tired and hungover. What should I do? I don't wanna ditch out on her this weekend but I'm already traveling four hours to attend Saturday and I'd just be arriving Friday night.

I can't imagine going clubbing the night before. I would be cranky and hungover and not up for a wedding the next day either. Im shocked she wants too herself?! I would go still but only have a couple drinks. Then if there is a way to leave early, do it.

I'm with you. I feel tired just thinking about it. I guess to each his own, right? Me personally, I'm planning on getting a good night's sleep the night of. Nothing like resting up for your big day.

That sounds like a bad idea all around. Plus, it sounds extra miserable for you because you will have just arrived after driving four hours and have to go out clubbing and then be up the next day and getting ready to go by noon. That would be a hard no for me.

Omg no no no. That is a horrible idea. Since I'm now "old" if I go out clubbing I'm ruined until 2PM the next day. When I do slither out of bed you better believe my only priorities are sweatpants, Gatorade, coffee, and soup, not someone's special day.

I don't think it is bad to say that you will be tired from traveling and can only go for one or two hours. Honestly, you can probably even say that you will be very tired from traveling and don't know if you will make it to the girls night but are looking forward to the ceremony the next day.

I’d give it an hour then turn in. After four hours of travel I would be tired. She is crazy hanging out the night before. I’m kicking every one out my room and winding down early the night before.

I used to perform weddings as a notary...actually I performed my one and only wedding. The bride got trashy drunk the night before. Everything that could go wrong did the day of. She stormed to the alter (in the most beautiful wedding dress I've ever seen) pouting, cussing and threw her bouquet to the ground and cussed everyone out except me. So I pulled her to the side and politely said to her privately honey it's best you do this when you are fully sober. Nothing is worse than a drunk bride...imho. Besides as a notary in Florida, we have to make sure the person taking the oath/vows is fully aware. I gave up performing marriages after that one time. I still married them later that day after she sobered up some. I felt kinda bad a few months later when I learned they divorced within 6 months.

Our ceremony is at 11 in the morning, and you bet we are going to be at least in our room by midnight. I probably won't sleep much, but I do not want a hangover, or any feelings like that the day of our wedding.

im confused though- she's already married?

I feel like that's a bit much before the ceremony the next day. Be honest and say like,"hey I don't think I will make it. I would have just gotten into town and want to recuperate for I can party with you all night long at the celebration"

Yeah. Kinda insane. So many things can go wrong. Who wants to be up early enough to be ready for a noon wedding? In a church? Plus you're driving 4 hours to go clubbing and then a wedding the next morning. Oh my

I mean- since it's not actually the wedding- I'd be less stick in the mud about it. Like if she's a good friend I'd point out the likely hood of everyone looking a fool/hotmess the day of increases exponentially with every hour out later you stay.

So- her choice- she wants some hungover ass brides maids for this event- well that's on her. LOL just reminder her concealer can only do so much.

Nooooo! I'm so lazy when I'm tired/hungover. I basically don't leave bed. Which is why FH and I don't go out and get crazy anymore. I hate feeling like complete shit.
