A person from high school recently got engaged she immediately reached out to me to see how much I would charge to do her hair for the weekend. Then the next day she set up a gofundme account for her wedding " asking for donations in leu of gifts at the wedding." She has proceeded to share it every 2 hours on Facebook for the last 4 days. I'm not one to lecture on etiquette but this particular situation really struck me as slightly beyond the level of acceptability... I know I have been very blessed with that my finances did allow me to have a wonderful wedding but even if they didn't i was already planning a court house ceremony followed by a backyard reception as a backup and would never have fathomed asking for money from anyone...

Thoughts?

The amazing thing is people responded asking her if she wanted to use their land for the wedding... To me even that was too kind.... I'm not a close enough person to say anything really so thinking I'm going to delete her off fb and then when she asks about her hair tell her I'm not comfortable taking someone from Fbs money for my services ( aka not happening)

Wow. there's tacky then there is just plain inconsiderate and mean. sounds like this girl has gone past tacky.

there are so many ways to have a nice wedding without lashing out at people for not wanting to help you. heck, there's even bartering things you do well if the green back dollar is scarce.

I don't do much of anything according to the rules, but there is not way I would have gone about things the way this girl did, let alone going and trying to shame people into giving you what you want.

Her behavior has appalled me, and that is so not easy to do. wow.

Wowwww... I honestly can't believe this. She should just have the wedding she can afford, wait, or even taking out loans would be better than what she is doing now. So if no one donates to you, you're not going to get married? Or if anything she could try asking family for help. But she is just being ridiculously self-entitled.

A&J: I was just going to ask the same question.

She sounds very immature. Maybe she should grow up a little more before getting married.
