Games ideas for the reception

FutureMrsAAA, on January 19, 2017 at 12:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

Dose anyone have any fun newlyweds games they can recommend during the reception. For the married ones were there any games u played that was entertaining to the crowds. For those not married yet what ideas do you have planned? The only thing I can think of is the shoe game. Thnks

Why do you need games for a reception? Not a fan of the shoe game what so ever...

Alcohol, food, and music; that's all you need for a good time.

My only game: please eat and drink and enjoy yourself.

I don't think people enjoy games as much as they enjoy just having good food, drinks and atmosphere

You don't need games. You need food, alcohol and music. These are adults. Presumably they know how to converse.....

I haaaate games. I think the ones at receptions generally go unnoticed by guests. Or they're annoyed.

Games belong at a child's birthday party. Not a wedding.

I went to a reception where they played the shoe game and a bridal party scavenger hunt. The shoe game was cute for the first five questions and then it was too much. The bridal party scavenger hunt was absolutely out of control and not entertaining for anyone not participating. Trust me, games are awkward and more of a distraction from the real fun of weddings (eating, drinking, dancing, and chatting).

I personally love the shoe game! It gets everyone laughing. But I wouldn't do MANY games, just a short one.

Games should probably be left for the bridal shower and MAYBE the engagement party, if you have one. Seems a little out of place for a reception.

    Yikes.

Please do not have games, we are talking about a wedding not summer camp. If you want something fun for your guests that isn't dancing mybe set up a photo booth. If you have a games most of your guests will not want to partake in them and they may even be so uncomfortable they leave.

    Please reconsider.

I think the shoe game is cute. I'm not a huge fan of games but I am a huge fan of you making your wedding your own and having it reflect you. If you want reception games then go for it. Have fun. And don't worry about all the negative Nancy's telling you not to.

I went to a wedding where they had cornhole (like a bag toss game). We had a ton of fun. I think it just depends on your crowd. Our friends and family have game nights at least 2-3 times a week so we've been thinking about having games available during cocktail hour.

The shoegame in the weddings I've been to has been fun but just keep it on the shorter side (no more than 5 minutes).

I plan on doing "I Spy" but I don't really see that as a game...just getting the two families to intermingle.

Guess we'll just stick with food, drinks n dancing. @unawarepandabear I like the married couples dance idea. We might just do that. Thanks for everyone's input

You don't need games. They are usually more fun for the newlyweds than for the guests. Just stick with a good timeline, good food, good drinks, and good music and the guests will have a blast Smiley smile

Fun games? No, there are no such things as enjoyable games at a wedding reception. Painful and awkward, I'm sure Google has lists for you for that.

No games. Food, alcohol, and good music are all that your guests need.

I dont want to do the shoe game at my wedding, but my fiance and I are huge gamers, so our brunch reception will have a game theme. The games will be the table centerpieces so guests can start playing after eating. There will be music in the background but not really for dancing.
