Future brides that are not pregnant, how long will you wait after?

FH and I will be 32 by the time we get married. We want to wait at least a year to get pregnant. How high is the risk for us and the baby? How long did you wait or how long are you going to wait to get pregnant after the wedding?

We wanted to wait a year, and got pregnant by suprise one year and a month after! I'm 29 now, and we want two so the timing worked out pretty well. I'm planning on TTC a year after this one is born so that they can be really close in age, and a year is enough time to be physically ready again.

Shortly after our wedding, I will be 27 and FH will be 36. We both want kids but aren't sure how long we should wait. I had always planned on waiting and enjoying just being married first before adding kids to the mix, but with him being almost 9 years older it makes it hard to wait too long. I know (for the most part) my age matters more as far as health concerns go, but I also don't want my kids to have an "old dad." And I think financially it will be hard if he is ready to retire with kids still in college. However, financially it will also be hard to start TTC right after the wedding because we want to buy a house first.

DH is 27 and I'm only 22 so kids aren't on our to-do list anytime soon. We've been married since July. DH is in his first year of med school and I'm trying to kick-start my career. We've discussed it though and would like to start ttc in 4, maybe 5 or at the latest 6 years? I'm thinking either his first year of residency or his second year. The second year would be less stressful so we'll probably shoot for that. I'd like to be solid enough in my career that I'd be able to scale back to working part-time. Not sure how many kids we'd like to have. Right now I'm trying to focus on knocking out my student loan debt asap and get some savings started.

We have agreed on 1-2 years. depending on our financial and living situation. i think its the most grown up decision we have made! haha jk but pretty much when we both feel we are ready, but (if it doesnt accidentally happen) we dont want kids before 1-2 years.

I'll be 23 and FH will be 28 (my old man :-P) when we get married so we're going to wait until I'm 25-26 and he's 30-31. No rush here :-)

DH is 22 and I am 23 (almost 24). We said we were going to wait 2.5-3 years. He ideally would want to wait 5 years but being that I am the older one, one who has to carry the baby, etc .... I want sooner! Smiley smile

FH and I will be 26 when we get married, we plan on waiting for at least a year b4 we start trying, I work with a lot of women and most of them didn't start till they were in their late 30s and 40s, they had a lot of complications and I'm really scared of that.

I am 25 and my FS is 23, we want to wait at least four or five years so we can get our college degrees first. I am almost done with AA degree woot! Plus my FS want it just US and our furbabies for a long while. We want kids but the timing is not right.

I agree about college before kids, my parents got married at age 19 and had me a year later. But dad got master degree at age 24, mom pushed him lol. My mom didn't get college BA degree until she was 38 years old, I was about to be senior in high school. She was very emotional and I was very proud of her. She worked full time, was a wife and a mom full time and went to college full time. And managed to have 3.9 GPA. amazing!

I am 27 & will be going on 28 the year me & FH get married(FH is turning 22). I plan to start trying right away. Pregnancy is something very critical in my family. All females in my family have lost babies and have had major complications even when able to have kids. Who knows, maybe something like that won't happen to me but it still makes me extremely nervous to wait til I get any older. So the baby making starts right after I say "I do!" =)

I'll be 24 and FH will be 25. I always thought 25-26 would be a good age to start having kids, so we'll probably start trying right away, as long as we have decent health coverage and steady reliable (well, as much as they can be these days) jobs.

I'll be 25 and he'll be 29. i said that i didn't want to have my first one till i was 25 and him 30 , so i'd say a year or maybe 2 before we have kids. FH said it'll happen when it happens, which to me is way sooner when he says it and he's always talking about when i get preganat and stuff like that. i think thay he's into it more then me right now, but i def want us to have sometime to ourselves being married before kids

Our situation is just like HisAngel. If it was up to my husband we would have been pregnant before we got married, but I was not trying to walk down the aisle pregnant. My friends and most of my family are all popping out kids so they are always asking when we are looking to have kids. I'm 29, for 2 more days, and he's 30 so we're not getting any younger. I don't want to focus too much on planning because if you plan too much there may never be the 'right' time, so we are trying and if it happens it happens.

    Good questions Future, Mrs!
