Future brides that are not pregnant, how long will you wait after?

FH and I will be 32 by the time we get married. We want to wait at least a year to get pregnant. How high is the risk for us and the baby? How long did you wait or how long are you going to wait to get pregnant after the wedding?

I am going to be 30 when I get married, and we talked about trying on our honeymoon. We've been together for over ten years, and we don't want to wait anymore if we don't have to. FS thinks we should try and have kids close together. And I'm hoping we have an easy time getting pregnant. I'm scared about actually being pregnant, but I know I'm looking forward to having kids of my own. Smiley smile

I will be 30 when we get married and FH will be 28. I already have a 9 year old daughter and we want to save money to buy a house before having kids. I'm hoping no more than 2 years before TTC because we want at least 2 more kids.

We will be 24 and 26 when we get married. Right now, our families are already talking about when we will have babies. We will be coming off doing long distance for 6 years and I will be starting my frrst year as a lawyer, there is NO way we want to get pregnant right away. I hate people telling us that we need to, not that we would hate it if it happened to occur. I want to enjoy spending time with my new hubby. I want to get my practice up and going. We want to get a few bills paid off and get a good savings before babies. The talk right now is to wait 4-5 years after marriage. I think that part of it too is that most people in our town at our age now have 2-3 kids already. We just want to in a better position.

I agree with Dawn H, I think time alone as a couple is important at the beginning of a marriage. It gives you time to solidify the foundation. I think a lot of people think having a baby will bring them closer together and in most instances, its the complete opposite. Newborns and children take away time from your SO, combine that with the financial burden and sometimes that stress is too much for a new marriage. Just something to think about.

Right after the wedding. we decided to at least wait until then. ill be 24 and fh will be 31 when we get married; we both already are set in our careers, have our own place and know we can afford to start. I've already talked with my doctor and evwrything lol.

We did things completely back asswards. So... no MORE kids after the wedding ;P

Have to say the kids have been helpful in "providing our own wedding party" lol. We have 13 nieces/nephews (and 3 more due before summer) and numerous friends w/ children. *Whew* that was a selection I did not want to make!! LOL

When we get married, we'll have been together for 8.5 years. I'll be 26, FH will be 24. We're waiting until a year after we get married to start trying to have kids which will also be the time that we go on our honeymoon. I'll be 27 and he'll be 25. I figure by the time we have kids, he'll be 26 and I'll be almost 28. I think it's the perfect age to begin our family Smiley smile

FH wants to start on the wedding night. Like you, I would like to wait a year to enjoy each other. But then again, I'm neutral on the baby topic, never ever had the urge to procreate (I just turned 30, he's 34.5- he'll be 35 when we marry, so his clock is ticking). Just so you know, it could take a while to get pregnant at 33 (fertility starts to decline past 30 but doesn't drop markedly until about 35). So I wouldn't wait too long to start trying- even if you start at 6mos post-wedding, it could take another 6mos or even more.

We will be almost 27 when we get married and we plan to wait 2-3 years before we get prego so 29-30 is the age we are aiming for. We just want to travel and get some personal goals done before it but I can't wait!!! :-)
