"Friend" with same wedding date...

Miss_Tee, on January 2, 2014 at 10:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Hi All!

This is the first time I am actually posting a discussion so I just want to start off by saying hello and thank you for the wonderful ideas, opinions, and advice you all share on this lovely site.

This post is more of a vent then anything else but I will also welcome any opinion or advice if you'd like to offer it.

So... Just a little background information. I've known this friend since the 6th grade and we were best friends throughout middle school and high school.

Anyway, her initial plans were to have a destination wedding in the middle of April 2014 but due to her family wanting to be a part of it and other factors such as hidden fees, etc.. she is now having her wedding in the states. She said the facility she wants to have it at only have two available dates in March which is the 15th and the 29th (which is my date) and the other dates have higher fees due to wedding season...

    Her FH wont be back in the states until the end of Feb so she feels the 15th is too soon

    So your friend's wedding is the same date as yours? Was she supposed to be in yours? Do you have guests that want to come to yours but might go to hers now?

    Is she invited to yours? If so, having the same date is really rude.

    Seriously-- she needs to find another venue! She can't have her wedding the same day as yours!!! Smiley sad

    @Erica Yup, her date is now the same as mine. I don't have a wedding party besides me and my FH daughters but she is/was helping with the planning of my bridal shower, etc..

    We don't have much of the same close friends except for two but they are closer to me and have already advised they are attending my wedding.

    Also, I have an afternoon wedding and hers is in the evening.

    Unfortunately, she can have her wedding whenever she wants. It sucks that she may be unable to attend or be in yours and vice/versa. Maybe you can watch Bride Wars with her? :-) Good luck with this situation.

    @Lisa, yes she is/was invited to my wedding. She was actually supposed to be helping my FSIL and sister plan the bridal shower.

    @Barbara - That's exactly how I feel... I just don't understand.

    @Jet - I understand she can have it whenever... but like you said, it still sucks. And all I could think of was Bride Wars after she told me, ha! Thanks.

    She can choose another venue. She just doesn't want to I guess.

    What is wrong with people! That really sucks. Just keep planning and don't let her ruin the planning process for you!

    I love how everyone says she should change venues... She's on a budget and as a budget bride there were very few that I Loved and could afford. Its crazy for you all, especially since you're planning to say that because I know we've all seen venues we couldn't afford.

    @Michelle

    This is the first venue she has looked at and for 60 people the price is really high... I looked at this venue as well (budget bride) and chose another because they were too high for me. So it has nothing to do with budget... But I guess she fell in love with the place so who am I to tell her to change...

    That is CRAZY...I'm curious as to what she has to say about the same date/venue issue? So neither one of you will be attending the other's weddings. She had no other date/ in mind? Focus on you & FH wedding day.

    @Milwaukee_Bride

    She says the only dates in March are the 15th and my date (29th). She said the 15th is too soon for her FH (he is in the military and wont be back until the end of Feb). And she says dates after March are higher...

    But yes, I will be focusing on me and FH's wedding. I have little time and don't need any added stress.

    The cheaper venues book faster. I know its a bummer but I'm sure it wasn't intentional.
