Friday or Sunday wedding??

Jennifer, on March 31, 2017 at 11:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 60

How common is it to have a wedding on Friday or Sunday? I have found a wonderful venue but it's a little out of our budget. If I change the day it cuts it down to half the price or more..

Hi Jennifer! Friday and Sunday weddings are becoming much more common!

There was a great post about Friday vs Sunday weddings last week, check it out:

Om in same boat we ended up choosing sat daytime bc it shaved off several grand. And our venue is on the water. Close 2nd was Friday night. Dont do sunday bc people work monday. People can always leave work early friday and then enjoy the weekend

We're doing a Friday. I feel like people can be a little more flexible during the summer months.

I've gone to a couple Sunday weddings. One was a Jewish wedding, I was told it's not common practice to get married on the Sabbath. I did take an extra day off for that one since I was OOT. The other was in state, but a 3 hour drive. I think they're becoming more and more popular, but they're definitely a little harder your guests. If it were in town, I think I'd rather go to a wedding on Friday than Sunday. It does cut down on price significantly, but I would double check with your VIPs.

They are becoming more popular. We are getting married in a Sunday before a holiday.

I think it's super common and out of the two I would pick Friday for sure! At Sunday weddings I'm always thinking about getting home and going to bed so I can get to work the next day.

I enjoy a Friday wedding just as much as Saturday.

Thanks everyone. I'm leaning towards friday, but FH is weary of changing it from Saturday because majority of guests are from out of state. He doesn't want them to have to miss work...

I think Friday is fine, Sunday as well depending on the time of the ceremony and reception, most people will have work the next morning so may not want to stay out late

I have been to a couple Sunday weddings that were on holiday weekends and honestly, I hated them. They took away my holiday since I couldn't go anywhere like FH and I usually do. I would hate them even more if I had work the next day or I would have to use vacation time.

I'm not a huge fan of Friday weddings either since I have to rush to be there but I'd rather rush to get there and have off the next day and not have to use a vacation day.

    Fridays are pretty normal.

Sudays for me are different. I did have a cousin a few years ago get married on a Sunday in a different state but also it landed on labor day weekend so we had monday to travel back home.

We are doing a Sunday wedding. The venue I booked was for the whole weekend though. Sunday is just more convenient as some of our family works on Saturdays.

We're doing a Friday wedding and just starting later. Our venue required a 4:30pm ceremony and we were able to negotiate a 6:30pm start time. I used the website to communicate details and keeping the ceremony shorter so people can get to the cocktail hour and food sooner. Saturday at most venues have been booked way in advance in my area, and since I want a party atmosphere Friday night was a better choice than Sunday for us. I haven't heard any complaints and have had a lot more choices in vendors due to their availability.
