Friday or Sunday wedding??

How common is it to have a wedding on Friday or Sunday? I have found a wonderful venue but it's a little out of our budget. If I change the day it cuts it down to half the price or more..

Do a Friday! They give you a longer weekend to visit with OOT guests. On Sunday's people tend to leave early.

I prefer a Sunday over a Friday.. easier to get ready and not have work.

I specifically chose a Sunday for that reason. Sunday is perfectly fine as long as you are respectful of time. Mine is 3-7..... so not late... so people can get home at a reasonable time for work the next day.

I'm doing Sunday before a holiday. If we did a Friday night only 10% of our guest list could make it. Plus, personally, we like a relaxed sunday afternoon party versus a late night dance party. Not our, or our guests, thing. Go with whatever day makes sense for you and your guests.

We do Thursdays Fridays and Sundays almost every weekend in season. You can't please everyone, you can't book Saturdays less than two years out in many venues, and other days are almost always cheaper.

Isn't this a valid use of vacation time? If it's not, RSVP no. If it 'ruins' your holiday, then it's not important enough to go. And keep in mind too that not EVERYONE works m-f and not EVERYONE has Monday holidays off.

Each has their benefits. A Friday is great because people can stay late and party and not have to worry about going to work the next day. But Sundays are great because people can have the whole day to get ready and head to the venue and not have to worry about getting stuck in rush hour traffic.

Ours is on a Friday. And the wedding venue I work at has weddings Thursdays, Friday's, Saturdays and Sundays through out the season. Your wedding is far enough out that people can get Friday off or leave work early depending what time the ceremony is.

I'm doing a Sunday wedding the day before Veterans Day! Most people have off veterans day and kids usually don't have school. I would only do a Sunday wedding either brunch or I would pick a Sunday before a national holiday

We're getting married on Friday. We got engaged in Jan and the venue I loved was booked on Saturdays. I was not at all interested in a Sunday. I tossed the idea of Friday around to a few people and they were excited about it. One family friend said the people you love and that love you are going to be there, the others are essentially white noise. Happy planning!!

If you do a Friday, just make it late enough so that folks who don't have to travel won't need to take off of Work.

I am doing a Friday evening wedding (6pm ceremony) but hosting the cocktail hour before the ceremony so people can get something to eat and hold them over to dinner starting around 6:45-7.

My wedding is at 3:30 ending at 8:30. Short but sweet and still have time for each other the rest of the day.

Sunday weddings have always been super common in my culture, it was actually strange to my parents that people actually get married on Fridays or Saturdays. For most of my childhood I thought people only got married on Sundays.

But anyway, we're having ours on Sunday and I've been to plenty (see above) and it doesn't seem like an issue for anyone. Yes most people do have work the next day, but if they choose to celebrate with you, they won't be upset or mad that they're going to be missing work the next day or tired. To most people it's worth it to to be able to share such a special moment with the couple. And on the plus side, you might not be stuck with any extra fees for the reception running later than scheduled!

We are doing a Sunday wedding, 3:30-9:30. The venue we fell in love with did not have a Friday or Saturday available until 2019 and didn't want to wait. I'm not worried about the party atmosphere being on a Sunday because in our family/friends group, those who enjoy a good time will party regardless of the day of the week! If it helps the budget I say go for it! Good luck!
