favors - what's the WORST one you ever received?

So, people are always asking if they are necessary (and they're not) and what the best ones were (most people say edible is the best) but just for fun, whats the worst one you ever got? Mine was a rolled up scroll thingy with a cutsie poem on it, thanking everyone for coming. Complete with a fake silver wedding ring around it. It was about as big as a post it note. Could've put that on the back of the program, what a waste of money and time to roll them all up... anyway what about you? :-)

I've never seen favors at a wedding and I won't have them. I will, however, have bowls of Hershey's kisses in wedding colors all over the place... Simply because I love Hershey's kisses!

Yeah... its always a bad sign when the packaging costs more than the prize lmao.

Um... the maracas? They are there out of obligation I assure you. Sorry.

Worst was probably a box of mints. They weren't that bad. I actually like wedding favors. I guess that makes me the minority Smiley smile Then again, I have never been given a nicknack with someone else's anniversary. Edible favors are my favorite. We are giving out handmade salted caramels inside a little envelope made of parchment paper that says "Thank you" and our initials. The envelope is not meant to be kept. The caramels are AMAZING. When I tried them, I wanted to eat about five more so hopefully they will go over well. If not, more for me I guess! :-p

I like those buttermints! I must be the only one. Most of the weddings I've been to had them.

My cousin gave votive candles with a clear sticker on the glass that had their names and wedding date on it. What is the actual use of that favor? Like, who would actually display a candle at their house with someone else's name and wedding date on it?? Plus, it just looked really cheap.

Second-worst was my friend who got married like the month they graduated from college (read: they were broke) and gave a CD personalized with their favorite love songs. Cheesey and not to mention, a lot of the songs were from when they were in high school (they were high school sweethearts) so they were old and not even popular anymore haha. Those were saved because they also gave homemade jam that their aunt had made. I totally took the extras that people left on the table and they were DELISH!

I think the worst for me was a 4 oz wine glass with the bride and groom's names and the date. I don't drink wine and if I go by what I saw at the wedding, neither did most of the guests (nor does the groom). Its not like they used wine or wine bottles or toppers anywhere else in the wedding so it made no sense. The next worst was a pen with the bride and grooms names and wedding date (the ink ran out after about 2 uses).

I was excited that guests commented how much they liked our favors. We had a Christmas/winter theme with blue and silver as our colors. The favor was a silver snowflake Christmas ornament.

My cousins wedding for sure! Their favour was a river rock with their names painted on it. WTF am I going to do with that??!

We're doing salt water taffy in tropical flavours. If guests don't like it, more for me! Smiley smile

A mini bottle of wine... It was a great favor but they didn't have enough for everyone! Not even for one per couple and they didn't assign them to anyone so there were literally fights toward the end of the night. Do a favor you can afford!

    Bubbles. Wrapped in tulle.

I'm giving shot glasses, and keeping the extras!

Worst I got was a crappy keychain that looked like an election button with their name and wedding date on it.....waste of money

Other weddings I went to did - Cake Pops... Loved them!

another was a deck of cards in a cute case with the bride & grooms name / date on it...Which I liked (and kept) because.. everyone can use a deck of cards at some point!

We are doing a candy table and counting that as our 'favour'

Aww! A good favor, but not enough blows! Spose she was thinking not everyone would want one since so many people dont like favors?! That's a conundrum for sure! :-)

We had a photobooth so we placed personalized magnet frames for the photo strips at each seat as the thank you / favor. We printed a nice thank you inside each so even without photos in them they were a nice memento. The only people who left without them were a few of the older people (>70yrs), friends of my parents.. though other older people really got fun in the photo booth! Which was nice to see. Nothing cuter than older folks acting silly.

Honestly though, I appreciate any favor that I'm given. Favors cost a lot and the fact that the couple spent at least another $100 on favors is a nice thought.

We did coasters, but each guest got a set of four glass coasters wrapped in ivory ribbon with a thank you tag. They were etched with a pineapple. The pineapple was part of our "theme". It's the symbol of hospitality in our home state of Virginia and our theme was "welcome to Virginia". I had pineapples on all the stationary also. They were all taken, and I had several guests comment on how much they really liked them. I hate anything personalized. I don't need your names and wedding date to remember that's where the favor came from, unless it's edible.

Jordan almonds like a hundred times.

A CD of the couples favorite songs which was horrendous.

A poem printed on a piece of this copy paper that got wet before I ever even touched it to read it

A PENCIL...lol with the couples names and wedding date on it

Our wedding has a theme of "whiskey and wildflowers." So for favors, I was thinking mini bottles of whiskey with sachets of lavender. It's orignal but I don't know how well they will be received. I thought about packets of wildflower seeds but my cousin had that at her wedding and not very many were taken. I like favors though. I'll take anything that's being given away for free Smiley smile

Honestly, the Food favors are the worst in my opinion. Especially when it "looks cheap". If you really didn't want to spend money, just don't give anything..don't give me some hard to chew candy that's going to mess my teeth up.

Personally, I do like to take home a favor from the wedding as a memory (maybe its just me). One of my friends had a red carpet photo booth and gave everyone a framed photo. Another friend gave the cutest salt and pepper shakers...

In the Jewish religion, some couples just give the "benchers" (or prayer book of meal blessings) as their favor. I like remembering the good times I had at that wedding when I see the favor in my house. Its sad that some people are rude and throw favors away. (btw, If its something useful I really don't think ppl do throw it away...)

I went to a horrendous wedding where our place card were our favor, it was a cheap plastic skeleton key that was 'jumbo' sized, like three times the size of a traditional skeleton key (which can be on the bigger size to start with). I just threw it out. To boot I know she paid $1.75 for each, she could have done so many better favors!
