I was brought up where you don't wear black to weddings, but these days it's more normal.

To tell you the truth, black is the color I wear the most. I've never worn it to a wedding because all the weddings I've been to are very traditional, though I would have preferred to worn black.

I don't think it should matter. Let people wear what they want.

Go for it! So many weddings now have black bridesmaids dresses, I don't think anyone would mind. I wouldn't even be upset if someone chose a dress that had a little white in it - as long as its a sun dress style, it's not going to detract from how I look.

Obviously if it is a black and white wedding or very formal attire, black is fine! I tend to shy away from wearing black at weddings though. You want photos with the bride to be bright and colorful.

I'm not a fan of it for bridesmaids, but it's fine for a guest. I know a lot of people are still against this so I hesitate to do it, but black is easy and half my closet!

Everyone loves black because it’s classic and slimming. Every wedding I’ve been to has had many people (outside of the bridal party) wearing black.

There is never a bad time to wear black! It's timeless and elegant. I didn't even hesitate when FMIL wanted a black dress. She saw it, loved it, but was worried I would think she was in mourning. I told her she was ridiculous and to get the beautiful black dress!

I avoid black and white at weddings unless it’s a printed dress that I mostly other colors. Although, I don’t think I would notice if anyone wore a black or white dress to mine. Unless you wore a white floor length gown or completed your black dress look with a black veil. Lol.

If it’s bridesmaids as pictured, I have no problems with it because that’s what the bride and groom chose. As a guest, I would not wear black.

A friend of mine who has been married for 18 years has a MIL that hates her, for no reason. She wore black to their beautiful summer wedding because she was mourning that she wasn’t good enough for her son and is frowning in every picture. Nice.

Black is classic for evening or nighttime formal wear, and for mourning. I think it is out of place for those women in or at a morning or daytime wedding. The classic LBD starts at evening cocktail hour. It is not a matter of etiquette though, just personal fashion style. Like people who invite all to wear black tie formal wear, then groom and groomsmen are in purple and burnt orange suits cut in tuxedo style but more costumes than formal wear, black dresses and gowns in daytime celebrations simply look out of place..

Nah. I think it's an older thing to believe that black should only be worn for funerals and not to weddings.

I personally would rather no one wear black or white to our wedding because we both can be a little superstitious at times but I know most people wouldnt care.

Nope! I think as long as you're happy in it and it's appropriate attire, then knock yourself out!
