Father/Daughter Dance

Jacki, on March 26, 2012 at 12:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Ok, so i'm trying to create my list for "father/daughter dance song options" to start negotiations with my dad... he and i don't, and haven't ever, really seen eye to eye on anything. i know we love each other, but we're really just not that close. Any suggestions for songs to dance to? anything country or too "pop" is out... we're more of an alternative/rock ish family... Smiley smile thanks everyone! my mind is just drawing a blank.. i started going through the songs on the site, here, but i haven't been able to find anything other than Frank Sinatra that i like...

We are using Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman - my dad picked it out.

I had I love her first by heartland, butterfly kisses by bob carlisle, and stealing cinderella by chuck wicks on my list of options.

I let my dad pick out the song for our father/daughter song. When he sent me his selection I teared up. It meant so much to me that he picked a song that to him, reminded him of me and our relationship. A Waltz For Debby - Johnny Hartman

I cried the moment I heard it

I just finally got to have a chance to sit down with my dad and discuss this. We are dancing to "Life Without You" by Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is my dad's favorite artist and I wanted to incorporate my taste of music.

Ask him what he wants first... i asked my dad and surprisingly he had a TON he loved, granted i knew he was a music nut like me, but we're doing Beatles... All you need is love...(for now, lol we didnt want too slow)

Listen to "You're my Hero" by Teresa James. It is perfect if you don't want country or anything too sad. It is still sweet and conveys the message, but not a song to make you blubber at. Also it even mentions that the daughter and father don't always get along, but it talks about how they work through that. It's really great. I can't believe I found it by accident myself after reading tons of pages of suggestions.

We went to a wedding and they did "In My Life" by the Beatles as the mother/son dance, but I think it could work for either!
