I sent out Save the dates, but I don't think it's an essential. I just wanted to show off our engagement photos and stop having people ask me about the date/time. HA! They still ask. LOL

Essential for us, because we both have out of town relatives and we wanted to make sure anyone who wanted to come could keep our date free!

Essential, people want to know farther in advance, but then need a reminder and more details closer.

For us, save the dates will be essential since our family and friends all live in different places so they will need to book accommodations. (We are making this easier by having our wedding at a hotel/resort so the rooms are all right there!)

Also, I think it makes a nice keepsake for guests. My friend included beautiful engagement photos on her save the date and I still have it on my fridge a month after the wedding because it's nice to look at. Whereas I didn't feel the need to keep her invitation since it was mostly just logistical details.

    ESSENTIAL!

I just think it prevents people from making conflicting plans.

Plus, my wedding is the beginning of summer. I’m sure people will be wanting to plan vacations, etc so I want them to have ample time to decide on their plans.

These are essential for us because our wedding is in June when people are typically taking vacations!

These were extras for us, and we passed on them. We sent out invites a little earlier and made sure all of our family knew the date as soon as we did.

Essential for us. The communication in our families is horrible so sending out a std is essential to make sure everyone knows what is actually going on.

I can definitely see why these are needed, however, we aren't doing them as we are having a small wedding.

We used Paperless Post for online save the dates. It was cheaper, they were super cute and people were able to write us congratulations or other messages. I was surprised at how many people did that. Also it prompted everyone to reply back with their address which was super helpful.

Hi Carly! I totally agree, especially for guests to be able to make arrangements ahead of time to be able to attend your wedding with work, travel, family, and other commitments.

Will you be having a lot of family & guests with little ones at your wedding? Smiley heart

I did them, but don't feel that they are necessary and are extra costs that should be saved. If I could do it over again, I probably would not have sent them.
