We did not do Save the date cards. Just the old fashioned way, writing a letter, or making a phone call, to all of those who traveled from distant states or countries. And as many of hubby's uncles and cousins own small businesses, with other family as partners, we knew they could not close, so Most let us know within a week of our phone call, X and Y will attend, A and B will keep business open. Since everyone had to travel to our wedding, and that year alone, my sister and brother and 2 first cousins, and then FI 's 2 brothers and 1 first and one second cousin, all married April to Sept, and we married on a long weekend in October, we would have had no idea who to plan for, since in both very big families, no one can go to all. So advance notice necessary. But the feedback from phone calls was immediate, and mostly letters in 2 weeks. Of family, only 4 out of 130 had not let us know, weeks and weeks before invitations. Made planning ever so much easier.

Essential, esspecially since half of our guest list resides out-of-state AND we happened to pick a holiday weekend. Sending Save the Dates allowed our out-of-town guests to start making the proper arrangements ahead of time

Essential! People's calendars fill quickly and they go on vacations, etc. I want to make sure my wedding gets a place in everyone's calendar.

I feel that its an extra! However, if you are doing a wedding that is out of State or a Destination you need to fly too, then Save the Dates are essential.

Since ours is a holiday weekend, we're thinking essential! Although I'm looking into sending Save the Dates online via email to save money on printing and stamps (and the environment of course!)

    ...to be determined Smiley smile

I didn't think they were necessary at all, but FH insisted. I suppose it was in the end, since a few people received these and not the actual invites.

I think they’re essential. Letting people make arrangements well in advance if they’re coming from out of town, which a lot of my guests will be.

I say its extra! An invitation is basically same thing. Why waste stamp money and money spent on that.

Essential to me, but I know some of my friends who aren't doing it. I'm glad I did, though, they turned out great and everyone loved having the little reminder on their fridge Smiley smile I currently have mine and my MOH's on my fridge, even though both weddings are over!

Definitely essential for us, especially because we have a lot of out-of-town and even out-of-country guests, and we wanted to make sure they knew they were invited in time to make travel plans!

Hi Kendall! Yes, especially with wedding websites, it's super helpful to include and get the word out to your guests. Smiley heart

Hi Lauren! That's great thinking! Especially since it's a popular time for end-of-summer traveling.

Your wedding is a year away, as of this past weekend! How exciting! Smiley heart
