Extra - we had a small intimate wedding of 20 and we wanted to spend as little as possible. We chose an amazing amazing photographer but just got pictures of the ceremony and us after the ceremony and family/friend shots. We didn’t even have them for the restaurant reception - others took pictures of that. No regrets really. They are beautiful if that’s what you want but it would of costed us way more than what we paid if we had more than one location!

I don't think they are necessary but a few candid shots are cute. I think it's all about personal preference.

I really want them, but I dont think having a pro take them is essential. My mom took amazing ones of my best friend doing my hair and make up before my proms (she was a couple years younger so wasnt in the right grade to be able to go herself), and I like those better than some of the ones taken with the group I was going with. But I think part of why they were/are so special is because we were so close (TBH I'm pretty sure now that I had a huge crush on her even if I wouldnt admit it back then). With a pro HMUA it wouldnt be quite so impactful so I'm fine with just having a camera in the room so we could all take pics of each other all day.

Me neither! I’m mean, I’m never gonna frame ‘em.

We were ready when our photographer arrived. My ladies pretended to put on finishing touches and my mom did put a boutonnière on my hubby. But then we jumped into first look pics. Budget was tight so we shaved 30 min from “ready getting” pics. Don’t miss ‘em.

Essential. They help with telling the story of how the day went. I think they are fun and useful.

I don't know if they're necessarily essential. But there are a few photos I'd really like that are in the realm of getting ready that I'd like to have. There's just something about seeing the preparation that's really nice.

I think they are essential as well!! When we were trying to figure out our photographer's schedule I opted to have the photographers leave the reception early so I could still get in 45 minutes of getting ready pictures!! Those pics are frequently my favorites! Smiley heart

If they come with it, then ok, but how many do you need? It's extra.

Essential but only a few and not anything super posed. Just a few moments of us actually getting ready. Our photographer isn’t coming until we will almost be all done

Extra. I don't think it's that special and can't imagine hanging any of those pictures around the house. Plus, we only have our photgrapher for 2 hours so I am not wasting our precious time on pictures I am not passionate about.

Some would be nice to have but not hundreds. This isn't my first marriage and one of my favorite past photos is of me reapplying my lipstick in the mirror after cake was smashed into my face.

Definitely an extra for me. I don't care about them at all.

This is an "extra" for me. Our photographer is proposing a really drawn-out photo timeline and I might get rid of the "getting ready" time. It'll be my two bridesmaid and my mom, so not really a huge group of people to have pictures of and I'm not a huge fan of the "act like we're fluffing her dress" or "button up the back of the gown" photos. Maybe just a few of the reactions once I'm all made up and ready!

Personally, for me, I don't need the whole getting ready process on film. I know I would like some of my FH for sure getting ready and maybe a dress one. I like the photos with the dress in a nice spot hanging and the photos with random wedding trinkets like earrings, shoes, invites...etc. in a picture. But, I can probably take those pictures myself!
