Essential for me! It'll be fun to get some photos of myself and my girls getting ready!

Extra. We're having our photographer come right at the end of when the hair/make-up artists are finishing so she can capture some of my mom helping zip up the dress, etc. But beyond having a few of the cute moments - I don't see myself using them!

Extra - to me they seem so posed and unnatural! But our photographer is coming a while before the ceremony, so maybe if we're still getting ready she'll take some anyways. I've always liked the photos of the dress silhouette in a window.

ESSENTIAL ESSENTIAL ESSENTIAL!!!!!!! I think that the cheesy bridesmaid outfits are extra, but i think that every detail of the entire day should be photographed and remembered. You will forever look at the posed picture of you putting on your makeup and feel so nostalgic for the excitement of the day ahead! You will remember it all, so why not share your memories through pictures?

Essential! This is a moment in time that will never happen again. Its you and all your ladies or all your guys getting ready and spending time together right before you get married. Its everyone looking classy, having fun, and your mom helping you into your dress. I know they will be photos I'll look at and cherish in years to come.

I won't have them since I plan on getting ready by myself but I did love shooting them when I was doing wedding photography. It's nice to capture as much as possible on one of the best days of your life

My girls getting ready with me took photos. I liked them. Not sure with all the craziness I would have wanted a professional photographer there. The guys room didn't really take photos of groom getting ready but guys are guys... lol

Extra. The pictures can be really beautiful, but I really just want to spend that time having fun hanging out with my friends and family. I feel like we will all be more relaxed and happy without a photographer in the room

Essential for me. Some of my favorite wedding photos are the getting ready ones- me getting ready, and sweet moments between H and his son while they were getting ready.

Depends on the style of photography you want. My FH is a photographer and there is nothing he hates more than all of the posed photos. Seriously, I never knew someone could feel so passionately against posed wedding portraits. We are instead focusing on candid photos and want a photo journalistic approach documenting the day.

So for us, we want photos capturing all of the little moments from start to finish. But we are skipping any of the traditional posed photos throughout the day.

I should also add that one of his photographer friends is actually shooting our wedding as a gift and will be staying at the venue with us the night before. So having him there early in the morning isn’t an issue or an extra cost.

But, it should come down to what type & style of photos is more important to you.

Would love to but definitely not a must, since My venue is a church they may not have a place for us to get ready.

I think a few are good. But they don't need to be there for hours.

A couple of snapshots, like if 2 minutes spent putting on a veil, headpiece, sentimental jewelry, fine. But I don't like group grooming ( hair, makeup, nails) or getting redy with others. One of a few things where if a bride makes it clear it is what she wants, I will decline to be a bm or MOH. Fine for people who want it. But pressuring people to do it, buying robes and shirts, then getting upset if people do not want to participate, is a pet peeve complaint about brides. So many complaints on the forums , brides calling it bad behavior if a bm simply wants to arrive on time , groomed and dressed. Not just not necessary: Unpleasant and undesirable. Wish the fad would pass.

I think so many things that have to do with weddings are extra but this is essential. You get to look back on one another before you were able to see each other - those memories of nerves, anticipation and excitement are just so romantic to me.

We’re including them as one of our must-haves. We have our photographer for 10hrs, so I want to capture photos of all the moments I can.
