    I need a "pointless" option.

Put that money to food or dessert. No one wants a knick knack from your wedding.

Extra! I honestly think they are a waste of money. Unless they are edible, the majority will be left behind or end up in the trash.

Extra. I dont really care, but fmil has said she wants them and she'll get them, so looks like we might have some.

I'm considering them essential for our wedding since all of our guests are coming from so far away. I want to really drive home how much we appreciate them coming so far.

I think it's an extra however if we have room in the budget closer to the date we might do an edible favor, we are still undecided though.

Extra, but I’m doing mine cheap. Like $60 for 100 people.

If if you are doing photo booth, that is your favor there.

IMO the open bar and food are a huge gift (whether I am a guest or bride)! They certainly aren't cheap.

We are doing jars of honey. I don't see them as essential, but my mother does, so we shall have them.

That is so nice, I'm sure they will be greatly appreciated! Have you decided what kind of favors you will be having yet?

Definitely an extra, but we couldn't help ourselves. The local spice shop made a custom spice blend just for our wedding, for super cheap! It fits our wedding and our town so well, we had to do it.

It’s extra in my opinion, but of course I’m Doing it anyways LOL. Not saying it’s right, but going to do Mickey shaped key bottle openers (adult only reception).

Extra. However, my mother is insisting that we have one. Our compromise is that they will be edible.

I think this is essential. When you come to a wedding you expect a thank you gift. But I don’t think the one time use things that are often given are worth it. I’m giving playing cards with personalized cases. Something that will actually be used after the wedding.

Not necessary. I never use the favors I get except for a custom pen I got from a wedding. My favors are something edible to actually eat. .

Depends on the favor. Most people will enjoy and prefer edible favors over favors that are personalized with your wedding date and names on it. I think we have narrowed it down to cider doughnuts (or some other edible treat), seed packets, a picture frame glass coaster or magnet that doubles as their name card, OR a donation to a charity/organization.

Extra! We usually forget to take one at a wedding. I like the idea of having your favor to your guests be a photo booth or late night snacks!
