drunk brides

Snif, on October 10, 2010 at 4:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

I just watched an episode of 4 weddings (my guilty pleasure because it both intrigues me and stresses me out) and the bride in one of them was sooooo drunk! Have you guys ever been to a wedding where the bride was drunk?

I saw that episode, and I hope someone kicks me if I acted like that!! Especially during the ceremony!

I saw that episode! Omg, I was so embarrassed for her. Imagine her kids finding that video on the YouTube of the future and then she has to explain to them that mommy was a little plastered on her special day.

I was reading one review of a wedding reception cruise, where the bride said that the staff deemed her too drunk to board the yacht and they took off without her! Imagine not even making it to your own reception.

Yikes, I plan on having a little sip of champagne before the ceremony for courage, then not drinking until I'm at the reception with food in my tummy.

I think I'm going to add to my wedding wish list - pleeease don't let me drink too much. lol

I been to 2 drunk bride weddings. The one girl was so cute about it so you sort of forgave her but the 2nd was just downright embarrassing, even the groom was trying to contain her Smiley sad

I've been too a drunk groom wedding - my best mate's - though he did only get drunk during the disco. He was good drunk mostly. He got the DJ to hand him the microphone and got down on one knee and serenaded her! (very very out of tune, but who cares!)

Was fine until it was time to go to bed and he was nowhere to be found, chasing after a friend of his that had had an argument with her bf and disappeared across the golf course.

Wow, that's ridiculous! I may have a small glass of champagne before I walk down the aisle but only and only if I have eaten that day and I don't mea a little donut, I mean a full for the most part breakfast or lunch!!! And the reception, I'm going to have one glass of wine during the cocktail hour, water with dinner, one glass of champagne during the champagne toast and then after I've been dancing another glass of wine and then water the rest of the evening! I so wish I got the channel four weddings was on and bridezilla was on but we don't ...

I know i'll have a drink before the wedding to calm the nerves, but my goal is to have a good time and i don't see how people have a good time being stupid drunk, so that is not my goal, to feel nice and have a good time is

I have seen brides get tipsy and have a good time, but I personally have never seen a bride get sloshed and act messy on her wedding day. I did a wedding one time where the bride asked me to keep a watch on her, which to me was odd. I later found out it was because she had done the 12 steps and didn't want to "fall off the wagon" and I didn't know this until her MIL very rudely pointed out how she couldn't believe her son married and alcoholic. :\

    Yep, I was ''that bride''.

To be fair, a huge chunk of guests had left by the time I started actually drinking, including the pastor and all the elderly. It was just my cousins, friends, and bridal party and was around 11pm. I just got really happy, nothing obnoxious and I wasn't falling over or anything. I didn't drink at all at the ceremony and didn't drink at all during the dinner and cake and most of the dancing. I just let loose a bit when all the older people left. Smiley smile

@little k - that's what one of my friends did as well. She was fine during the ceremony and reception and then when just the stragglers were around she decided to let loose and it probably did her good to wind down from the entire event but she just got goofy, not obnoxious :-)

Yeah, I was goofy. I totally would not have done it while everyone else was there that's for sure!

I got pretty damn tipsy at both our DW reception and our hometown reception, but not before the reception. That was actually one of our officiant's rules--not directed at us, just a general rule; I guess when you're a Unitarian you have to lay these things out as clearly and specifically as possible ahead of time. :p

I wouldn't argue with someone who labeled me as "kind of drunk" at the end of either of those receptions, but I figure I did okay considering that I made it back to our car across a gravel parking lot in 4-inch heels, unassisted, while one of our male guests (in flat shoes) had to be half-carried, half-dragged to his car by his wife.

Never had that happen, but now that you gals point it out, bringing a flask so I can have a drink for the nerves does sound like a good idea.

I was pretty tipsy, Rick was pretty drunk. Luckily we are both fun drunks - no fights, obnoxious behavior, just goofy dancing etc. Most everyone at our wedding was, including my 70 year old dad (he was the worst) ...once Rick jumped in the pool, my dad thought that it was cool to try to get every single guest to do it as well!

I saw that episode today when they were playing all the reruns. I never been to a wedding where the bride and/or groom got drunk, but I can imagine it wouldn't be good. I won't be drinking AT All for our wedding, not a single drop. So at least I know I won't have to worry about this happening to me.

Yeah, my mom definitely got pretty trashed at our DW reception--not so much at the hometown one. But everyone had a good time. :-)

I went to a wedding a few years back. I was a good friend of the groom's and I absolutely HATED his fiancee, but I went anyways. At the reception his now ex-wife proceeded to get incredibly hammered and vomitted all over her $7,500 dress. Not only that, but this woman also snuck off with 2 of the groomsmen for a couple hours. She was disgusting.
