Dress to be hemmed? How many inches do any of you Brides have to or have gotten taken off?

Christina, on April 25, 2012 at 11:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I tried on my wedding dress again today it's been a while since i've had the pleasure of wearing it again, and I remember it being too long like 2-3 inches but this time It seemed more like 5-7 maybe even a little more in inches too long!

Probably not the best to judge when im like bending down to see and I was alone lol but how many brides are having hemming done? How many inches? and How much are you paying?

Mine has to be taken up around 4- 5 inches....I'm only 5'2 ( 5'3 with heels).

I'm paying $370, but that also includes having it taken in, which is the majority of the cost.

I was quoted $50 for the hem. I believe I'm having 2-3 inches taken off.

I'm 5'3" and wore 4" heels and still had to have like 3-5 inches hemmed up. I went through davids bridal (I know, I know) and it was about $120.

Originally I thought I only needed to have it hemmed about 1 or 2 inches, wasn't sure cuz I wanted to wait until I got the slip to go under it to see if that really made any difference and that just arrived this past week and I haven't had a chance to try it all on again. I've had other people in the house and they nothing about the change in dresses so I have to wait till they are both out the house. And now with the change of venue, I'm also changing my shoes and going with cowboy boots which I have to order as the ones I want aren't allowed to be sold in the state of California so I have to have them shipped to FH in Mass and then shipped to me so the boots will have lower heel on them the shoes that I had picked out. So I will probably end up having to hem the dress about 5 inches I'm thinking. But I will be doing the hemming myself so it won't cost me anything. Gees thank heavens I can sew.

I don't know how many inches I'm going to need but I'm only 5'0 so probably 5-6 inches will need to be taken off
