Hey guys.. So I have my first dress appointment this Saturday!! I have a dress that I am in love with, but I am having MAJOR anxiety about the dress looking horrible on me!! I have looked at every picture I can find of real brides in it, but I doubt any of them are my size. I am a size 12 in jeans...

Hey guys.. So I have my first dress appointment this Saturday!! I have a dress that I am in love with, but I am having MAJOR anxiety about the dress looking horrible on me!! I have looked at every picture I can find of real brides in it, but I doubt any of them are my size. I am a size 12 in jeans and in June when I tried on a bridesmaid dress I was a size 14 in the dress. I would love to see you in your size 14 dresses!! I'm having an incredibly difficult time trying to figure out if I'm going to look half decent in a dress or not. And I'm starting to freak out.

So if you're a street size 12 or if your wedding dress is a size 14, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post your dress for me!!

I don't have a picture because my bff drowned my phone in beer on my bachelorette weekend and I lost a lot of pictures, but I'm a pants size 12, and my dress was like an 18 because of these boobies. Don't pay attention to the number and know that the size you get is the one that will make you look best. Good luck and have fun shopping!

Wedding dress sizes are jacked up, that's for sure.

I ended up ordering a size 18, but my street size is a 10/12.

Yeah wedding dress sizes are weird. I'm a street size 2 and my dress was a size 6. You'll look beautiful no matter what Smiley smile

I don't trust wedding dress sizes at all. My street size is 8/10. I tried on dresses in sizes from 10-14 and had a hard time getting into some of them! Then I tried on a dress in a 6 (the lady who was helping me grabbed the wrong size) and it fit perfectly! It was my dream dress and had only been in the shop for 3 days so I bought it off the rack.

Giiiirl I was nervous too. I'm a street size 10 and my wedding dress was a 14 because wedding dress sizes are crazy. Then it had to be tailored down a lot. Don't be worried about the number, just focus on finding something flattering and you will look beautiful Smiley smile

Hi there! Don't freak out if you need to do a size 16 or higher! I am a street size 10 and I bought a 14 off the rack, but I also was fitting perfectly into a few size 16 and 18!

To be completely honest, this thread kind of rubbed me the wrong way. @OP I know low self esteem and anxiety is hard. I certainly deal with the same issues as well as many other people. One thing to be mindful of is to force yourself into a different perspective. Did you look at any of these pictures and truly think "that woman is fat"? These women are the same size as you and they are beautiful, just as you are too.

The part that irritated me was that you kept bashing yourself but in turn it could make others who are very insecure feel even worse. A bridal size 14 is not large by any means. I know you were only speaking about yourself but maybe you can help your own self image by stopping yourself before writing, speaking or even thinking some of these negative things. Imagine one of these women who have posted their pictures saying the same things you did about yourself, what would you say to them?

You have to work on yourself and your own mental health to build a good self esteem. This thread was great to see pretty dresses and even more beautiful women but you wrote this thread fishing for reasons to make yourself feel better. That's fine but now you need to find a way to be happy on your own, without other people's validation.

I have in my past saw myself as very large but looking back at pictures I was actually small. So what I see when I look in the mirror isn't always what is actually there. Or what others see when they look at me. So yes I wanted to see people in their dresses.

If I had made anyone feel insecure about themselves, knowing this forum, they would have told me. Sorry if my post irritated you.. But I am thankful for the 4 pages of women graciously posting their photos and showing me that even though I am a bit unhappy with my body at the moment, that they all look beautiful in their dresses and I can too..

@Spaghetti most women have body image issues, especially those of us who wear anything that is considered an extra large or plus size. If you've never worn clothes in these types of sizes you couldn't ever possibly understand how difficult it can be to look at clothing online and see everything on a model who is a size 2.

@op there is nothing about your post that would make anyone feel insecure. No worries!

@OP I hope you didn't find my comment to be attacking you in any way. I simply want to encourage you to work on your self esteem. I have decided to work on my mental health rather than force a diet right now because I definitely see a different person in the mirror than others do. I know that I've caught myself saying negative things about myself and accidentally made someone else feel worse. I know I feel crappy when someone smaller than me says they look fat and need to lose weight.

@Kimberly Did you read my post at all? I admitted to having those same exact issues. My concern is that a size 12/14 woman is bashing herself while a woman of a larger size could be lurking and feel even worse. I am just encouraging that OP work on her own self image as I am also trying to do the same for myself. You don't know my size... please don't tell me what I can or can't understand when it comes to body image.

@Spaghetti - I completely agree that I need to work on my self esteem. Unfortunately it's not something I can fix quickly. Certainly not before Saturday haha!

I would never mean to make someone feel bad about themselves, but I do realize that most women have self esteem issues because women are extremely hard on themselves. I can look at someone the exact same weight, height, jean size, wedding dress size and probably 9 times out of 10 I will still see them as looking better than I do. So if I upset anyone I am truly sorry!

@Brittany I feel ya! Luckily we both have over a year away to work on feeling beautiful for our weddings! I was super anxious to go dress shopping but honestly it made me feel so good about myself. I didn't even know the sizes I was trying on either.

Dress size 14 here! I went with an A-line style because my hips are not small, lol. Who cares what the label says, it's all about how you feel in the dress!
