“Dream Wedding”

My fiancé and I honestly decided on 2 colors and decided to make it work and our colors are tourquoise and dark purple. We are having a july wedding. But dont get me wrong we went through like 3 ideas before we decided on this. We had anywhere from disney wedding to a Pittsburgh Steelers wedding. It all comes in time and deciding on what the both of you want

I never had a “dream wedding” idea. When it came time to plan, we went through a couple different options before settling on a beach wedding. We realized we wanted a casual, simple wedding without all the fuss and a beach wedding fit the bill. Talk about different kinds of weddings and see which one draws both your interest, then narrow it down from there.
Do you have a favorite color? I picked my color within a couple weeks of getting engaged and never wavered-my favorite color is my favorite color! I narrowed it down to five different DB colors, ordered swatches and picked my color.

I pretty much knew what I always wanted. I always imagined red roses for my bouquets and centerpieces. I also knew I wanted to have black linens. Luckily my husband really wanted black and red to be our wedding colors since his favorite hockey team's colors are red and black. He didn't want all black tablecloths so we comprised and had white tablecloths with black layovers. At one point we almost changed colors because my husband's wife wanted to red as her wedding color and they got married six weeks after us and we didn't want to have the same color as her. She ended up deciding to go with a dark green instead of red otherwise we would have gone with a little pink and silver. I was very happy she switched colors because I always knew what I wanted. There are a ton of different wedding boards you can look at to get ideas, but you still have plenty of time so you don't need to decide right away. I wouldn't buy anything yet since it is almost two years away and what you want now might change by them. My suggestion would be to create a board on Pinterest and once the wedding is closer then you can determine which colors you like.

I am also planning for 2021, in general I did not have a “dream” wedding idea, but I have a decor style and colors that I like, so my likes have been similar to my decor in my house.


If I were you, I would first decide on what type of venue you like, I did this by just searching wedding venues in the area I want to get married. Then start thinking of ideas based on the venue’s styles.
What I do as well is save ideas I see to a Pinterest board. I search October wedding ideas etc. My plan is to then start removing what I don’t like and then piecing together what I do.
I know in the next year or so I’ll most likely see new trends and change my mind on what I like so for now I’m just saving ideas but not making any final decisions in regards to style.

But I’m searching different looks and etc, talking to different wedding planets they ask do I have a theme? But I’ll go see more if I have more pictures that’s seem outdoor decor I think I’ll Lean towards that for my ceremony and maybe indoors for reception only time will tell lol

View Quoted Comment In reading your responses you sound just like me, lol. So good to know I am not the only one that has a tornado of thoughts and idea in my mind. It’s scary I could be at work, focused on a project and randomly have a wedding idea thought, look it up and then see 6 other ideas I like too. If you see my Pinterest page you would not be able to even guess what I like.


Example, I like Bohemian but only certain things like the dresses and some decor. I love farmhouse but after visiting venues although I like rustic too, I don’t like farmhouse and rustic together for my wedding. I lean more toward the modern farmhouse.
So about my venue, I am in Florida and have visited a handful of venues. I found one called the The Lake House Fort Pierce, and it has a southern charm to it. You can rent the property for the full weekend but the wedding would not be in doors. I too at first thought I would have preferred in doors cause of the unpredictable Florida whether. My wedding is December so I worry it might be too chilly and the dance floor is on an open deck, but I see a lot of people go with outside heaters. I guess you could call it an elegant backyard wedding. The ceremony is either by the lake or a banyan tree. The reception is under a huge wood closed roof pergola. I haven’t confirmed the venue as of yet but thus far this week I am leaning toward that venue.
I have to tell ya, having the wedding wire community helps a great deal as well. It helps organize. Just expect that you are going to change your mind often before your date and give yourself time to figure out your main design. I have been asked if I have a theme as well honestly I will never have a theme. I am getting married close to Christmas so there will be some winter, Christmas touches but not specific theme just touches of designs that I like together. It’s your day catered it around your and your FH personality, make sure it fits you both and it will be perfect.

Watch wedding shows! This gives you a pretty quick mental image of your "LIkes" and "HATES."


From there, narrow stuff down. Pinterest has tons of stuff. I finally realized I wanted an outdoor rustic glamour type look. Once pinpointing that, i found the venue. Once i got that. I found the colors i liked. It kind of all just fell in place!

I think it's normal to change you mind a couple of times. I've had second thoughts on everything even after booking and paying vendors. There's always that "what if" but whatever you decide on it will all come together beautifully on your wedding day.

I myself didn’t had a “dream wedding” but I started looking at venues and getting ideas from Pinterest and being more active to pick what me and my fiancé love and that determines what you really love compared to what you like..

I have always known what kind of atmosphere I want more my dream wedding and that I want a winter wedding! I also had a dream dress, which is so far from the dress I actually picked lol. Even though I had a dream wedding in mind I am still struggling a lot with choosing colors, invites, BM dresses, and stuff like that. Most of those things I thought I knew before based on my dream wedding, but now it’s entirely different!! I go on Pinterest basically every day on the bus home and have like 400 things on my wedding board. I also have a picture of my reception venue saved on my phone so that I can reference it when I have an idea to see if it’ll go together. I’m now picking my colors based on the stained glass windows of the venue which is helpful, but still so hard!

I'm setting up for my dream wedding in July 2021. But with college degree my dream degree/career changed like right before I graduated high school. So dreams do change. I'm going with a beach venue because ive loved the beach and it's always been my dream. I have a connection with the beach as crazy as that sounds🤣, you got time, but it never feels like enough. Just do a couple ideas and surf the internet for photo ideas and see what catches you're eye. Maybe you'll fall in love with a type of venue of one picture and then a colour scheme in another. I'm doing a pink and black wedding my favorite colour is pink and my fiance's is black. So that just worked well for us.

So last night after my reply to you I went on a search on like you suggested on Pinterest & chileeee I went crazy wither ideas! I found flowers in October & greenery in October and picked flowers then I went with colors to see if I would like others, then look for wedding inspiration in October & found some!! Next thing you know it’s 4AM 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ Lol I’m from Louisiana so we have a lot of cites that’s historical & plantation homes so I was thinking the venue I seen yesterday people usually use the outdoor area which is huge so I was thinking about ceremony there and reception indoors. So I want to get the whole wedding idea in my mind first, when I shop for a dress for events I try to get the vibe of the event like I have a formal Christmas party coming up with a huge company so I went with a long red gown but nothing to formal the right amount of formal. I’d that makes since? Lol so when I get the vibe of my wedding I’ll know if I want lace, sleeves, no sleeves, mermaid, etc. it’ll all come together once I figure out my venue style and wedding style! It’s actually exciting especially since I have until 2021! I love how you went with atmosphere of things that can be a big PLUS for the flow of things! I like to stay up on trends & also on things that’s no so popular so I can add those to my ideas I’m hopping the few ideas doesn’t get to popular by 21!
