Hi, guys! I’m planning my wedding we have our date set for October 2021! The problem is I always wanted to be married I just never had a “dream wedding” in mind, so I’m constantly thinking of ideas changing colors, I thought I wanted indoor but now I’m loving the idea of outdoors. Any advice on how to pinpoint your specific idea of dream wedding? Did anyone knew what they’ve always wanted, did anyone that’s married now go with their “dream wedding idea? Or did it change?

I never had a plan of a dream wedding but when we started looking at venues, more vision came to light for both of us in what we wanted and didn’t. Once we started seeing prices... even more clarity! LOL

I was like this. I honestly had no idea what I wanted, BUT weirdly I know exactly what I don’t want. So I have been all over the place with my decisions! Trying to make everyone happy. And then no one was happy! Including me. Lol

I honestly decided to take a break from any planning until I could at least sort of conceptualize something in my own mind. That is to say I tried to visualize all the possibilities and settle on what I really wanted deep down. What could I not live without? What parts did I not care about? Etc.
So I would recommend that. Don’t talk to anyone about it and just take a few weeks or a month to try to think it through for yourself. My second recommendation: I drove everyone crazy changing my mind all the time cause I didn’t know what I wanted. It’s okay to change your mind but leave every one out of it. Learn from my mistake! Now no one wants to talk about my plans even though I have decided. I wore them out with indecision. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat for my 2021 wedding. I have obsessed over trends on Pinterest and was totally convinced on having a Blush and Burgundy wedding with Rose Gold accents. It was trendy and beautiful and so fancy. Then I read somewhere about brides changing color schemes half way through planning because the colors they had chosen didn't reflect their personality, but because it was trendy at the time. I thought about it and realized that my initial wedding colors were gorgeous but DON'T match my personality or style!!!!!! 😭
My new plan is wayyyy different. I want a variety of colors and more of an elegant boho kind of feel. I like violet, pink, yellow, green, and orange... Like colorful wildflowers and stained glass bottles and jars. I showed my fiancé both styles and he said wow to the boho style and really liked it. He knows me best, so I'm set!!!! 😁👍

Before he proposed and we had talked about marriage I had lots of ideas too. Everything from glam and in a ballroom to a garden theme. We had to narrow it down and realised we both just wanted to get married under a nice tree. So we went with an outdoor wedding and ceremony. Luckily we found a great modern/vintage venue that was within our budget and locked the date. Our theme was easy to pick. When my FH asked me to be his GF, he gave me a box with a set of keys in it asking me if I could hold the key to his heart and asked if I would allow him to hold the key to my heart. When we got engaged, we naturally gravitated toward using that theme and incorporating a skeleton key and going with a vintage/modern theme for our wedding. The only part we are really having to think thru are our colors and styling the event so that the key thing doesn't go overboard and making our wedding look cheesy.

I say start analyzing the styles you like and why you like them as well as if anything holds a special meaning for you. For us, the thought of getting married under a strong rooted tree was a symbolism to how we want our marriage to be deeply rooted amd grounded. Hope it helps. Good luck and CONGRATS!!

I changed my mind and colors 4 times. I shuffled through Pinterest for weeks until I finally found a Kate Spade theme wedding that I fell in love with.

For me when it came to thinking about dream weddings, I went to a wedding which everything was orchestrated well and that's what I wanted was an organized wedding where everything just flowed well. I would say for what it took me to come up with a dream wedding is a lot of research, because I had no idea what I wanted. I would say look into venues that are around you or if you want to do a destination wedding go for it, but just check out the resources that are on this page because it does help. I found my venue on this website and most vendors are really responsive. For colors, me and my fiance picked out two colors and I would say for what you are looking for as a dream wedding look up ideas on pinterest, there are so many things that you can do and just create it into what you think would look great! Good luck! I hope this helped!

I never had a dream wedding idea, despite going to wedding fairs and buying bridal magazines for a number of years. At one point, I even bought a wedding dress which I dyed black! So, my love of weddings is long established. Smiley xd

I had set a budget for my dress of no more than 600, and I liked the idea of a chocolate fountain and mini personalised love hearts. Other than that, I had no clue whatsoever.

My absolute favourite colour is teal...but it's very eye catching, which isn't how I am as a person. So, for that reason, it won't be a main colour at least.

I am a sucker for anything I deem to be pretty, so my pinterest wedding board has been overflowing with a ton of different colours, styles, and themes. I recently went back through it and threw away a lot of pins. Cakes are one of my biggest issues because there's just so many pretty ones to choose from. Smiley love But when I was instinctive with them, I realised the ones I had left were majoritively plain looking, with pretty accents like leaves or flowers.

What has helped me as well is looking at things from my FH's perspective. Would he like it too?

Also, ask yourself why you like certain things. What specifically is it you like about it? You'll likely find there is something that connects a lot of different things together for you. Once you find that, you can build from there. That's what I did with the cakes. I realised what I liked most was the simplicity of them. So I think our theme will be "Less is more." Smiley laugh

We picked our favorite colors. His is Navy Blue and mine is purple. We are adding a pop of silver just because I love blingy stuff. There was no dream wedding vision our way either. It will come together for you. 😇

I had the same issues. I think it became easier for me once I started to write things down. For the time of the year, considering the weather during that time will make it easier to make a firm decision about indoor or outdoor... think about your guest as well as the venue (some venues offer both indoor and Outdoor weddings). I decided on my venue based on my anticipated number of guests and my desired wedding decor and set up. Planners would ask for a theme and its okay to say you are still deciding and explain your ideas to them. They are often willing to help put a name to your ideas. Also, I reviewed decorations and themes on different wedding websites and I pinned the ones I liked. That helped me to figure out what theme I was going for. With color, you can change your mind as much as you like as long as you communicate with your decorator! Overall, as brides we often overthink things. I am sure your day will be a beautiful one!!

Has your fiance had a dream wedding in mind? I was surprised how much mine had thought about it and had clear wants and needs for the event (ie. Live band or bust). His/her ideas could help you narrow the scope of options in a very helpful way.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!!!Once you choose a venue it will help with the planning process. I have always wanted a beach wedding, but now I'm having second thoughts. I now like the idea of being married in Vegas at the valley of fire. Is there a certain look you're going for? Theme?

Thanks everyone for your advice! It’s really helpful! Especially the few about leaving friends and family out of planning! I’ve notice my older sister who’s my MOF make faces or doesn’t say anything when I’m talking to her, or sometimes she takes control of my planning and thinking. On a more exciting note! I’ve been doing a lot of rough drafts with my Pinterest board & so far I’m loving what I am creating! You ALL have been really supportive and helpful in many ways! I really appreciate this app & all of you! ❤️❤️

As one of the ladies stated on here you have your FIND what surrounds you and your FH! So I’m narrowing it down

Yes! I think I’m overthinking! & maybe overwhelmed too! I called my decorator/planner and I told her everything I sent her just dismiss it until the summer so by July no later I want to have an 100 percent idea of what i want therefore giving her enough time to make my wedding ideas possible! We both had agree that those previous pictures and my ideas was all over the place! This time I rest my whole process basically using Pinterest again for ideas and colors I love that has a theme and going from there!

Years ago I said if I was to ever get married it’ll be in a black gown 🤣 I love black but I don’t want to go with it any more now that it’s actually happening! Lol! I love your way of thinking though! I’m trying to narrow it down and hopefully before next October I have it to a T

I’ve been to one Saturday and the week before that one and what I’ve Learned is what I DONT want and who NOT to get to help for my big day! Those weddings were tacky and unorganized! It maybe realize how important the small details are or a wedding they matter too! So while I’m focusing on putting together my wedding that fits ME I want to focus on the small things that I can control and have organized ideas! So I know I can take my time and enjoy this part of planning! Cause I’m actuality my “dream wedding” is having a wedding that showcases our love and decor that fits us both as a couple!
