Dollar Dance.. yes or no?

I've seen dollar dances in past weddings, but current weddings, have not. Is this is uncommon thing now? I have no opinion either way, just curious.

No. anything where you ask guests for money is rude. I went to one where they had jars to place bets on cake smash. I was really disappointed because these were good friends and I just thought it was soooo tacky.

I went to a friends' wedding a few years ago, and they had a dollar dance. I had never heard of it before, but even at the wedding, I thought "Isn't this tacky?".

You bet your ass people were talking bad about it.

Nothing like a good old dollar dance thread to make the last hour of my work day go by a little bit faster! Thanks!

Literally never have heard of a dollar dance, been to a wedding with one, or heard of people mention them until this site.

IMO that would be tacky AF and I would be a willing participant. Baffled by how many people ask about these on here they aren't a thing for my friends/family.

It's a family tradition so we will be having one. It's not to get extra money for the honeymoon. For weddings I have been to yes I've seen them ( hence it's a tradition in my family and culture as well).

My mom and I just had this conversation last night. We have been arguing about this for months. She wants a dollar dance done so badly. She keeps saying "it will give you extra spending money on your honeymoon" and my response is always we have enough spending money. To me it's just greedy. Think about it, you spend money on a gift and spend a whole day with them then they want more money to dance with you and on top of that like not many people even carry cash anymore. I knew i was going on a honeymoon a long time ago and saved accordingly. I even told my mom everyone on these wedding boards says its tacky and rude so it is not just me that thinks this way. She says im making a big mistake. Please don't do this. Save your own spending money.

I'm gonna do a dollar dance right after they are done serving drinks at my Cash Bar but not before I make my MOH announce that we have a Honey Fund set up!!!

Unless it's apart of your culture then yes. If not nope it rude to do it just because.
