Does the bride really need a garter on?

Endya, on February 3, 2017 at 10:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38

I have time before my wedding but I'm trying to soak in as much information and tips as I can.

I was wondering is it really a big deal to have the garter removed at the reception? Do I really need to wear one?

No. there are lots of brides on here, myself included, who find this tradition a little classless and did not do it.

No you don't have to wear one. I'm not doing that. I don't need my husband fishing up my dress in front of my family.

Many people skip the garter toss because it can be very awkward and uncomfortable. So if you would like to skip it that's totally fine.

You also don't have to wear a garter. I for example, am not doing the garter toss but I'm still going to wear a garter because I want one and I'll surprise FH with it. Lol

I'm not wearing one because my dress is tight. The garter toss seems like an old school tradition to me. I'm personally not a fan

It's your wedding, you can do what you want. Don't listen to anyone who tells you what to do, what's right or wrong for your wedding day.

Okay. Thank you everyone! I was just feeling awkward about doing it in front of family. I feel at ease now!

I've never even seen a garter tossed and we've attended around 25 weddings, in the last 5 years.

I won't be doing this either. Not my style.

I'm going to wear a garter but we're not doing a toss of any kind. I was thinking about having a guys only dance to Rush and then a girls only dance to Spice girls or Beyoncé. Idk; it's just something I'm playing with

No. I don't want to spend the money on it and we wouldn't be doing the toss even if I did.

We're not doing the garter toss, but one of the videographers I interviewed said that that is a common spot to attach the microphone transponder.

    Follow up question to this:

Do you guys think it would be weird to do the bouquet toss but not the garter toss? Do you think guests would find it weird to do one but not the other? I don't really want to do a garter toss either, and neither does FH, but I do want to toss the bouquet.

We will also be skipping the garter toss. FHs grandmother would probably die if she saw him go under my dress. She didnt even approve of us living together till we were engaged

We are not doing the garter toss or throwing the bouquet. Instead of tossing the bouquet we are going to give it to either the couple married the longest or the oldest person.

Nope, not wearing one or having FH toss it. It's almost on the same level as calling out all your single friends and having them catch the bouquet. Not my cup of tea and it's awkward for most people.

I'm not doing a garter removal but I will be wearing one! Just for the whole thought of one, I don't think it will last long though! Lol
