Does the Bride Need a Wedding Band?

I don't have a wedding band right now. You don't *need* one! Very pretty ring!

I've had a few friends who didn't get wedding bands. One had an antique heirloom ring and didn't want to bother finding anything that would match without detracting from it.

You're just as married, whatever rings you do or don't wear, so do what feels right to you.

I'm not wearing a band with my ring. We are still getting one but I'll wear it on my right hand or in place of my engagement ring (for travel, manual labor, etc.)

I'm not getting a wedding band!

I'm only wearing one ring. FH and I designed our wedding bands, and had a stone set on mine so it would serve a dual purpose.

I like having a band for those (rare) occasions when I don't want to have my ering on.

I am not getting a wedding band, just my engagement ring. When people see my ring, they already assume I am married as at first glance it looks as though there is a band.

I'm not getting a separate band. I have a ring I wear on my right hand already that I have a lot of semtimental value tied to so I don't want to take it off for the engagent ring and there's no way I'm not wearing my engagement ring. I don't think it really needs anything else - plus I'm obsessed with it the way it is so I don't want to add to its look!

I do have a wedding band but I don't wear the set together. I either choose to wear my engagement ring or my band each day. I just don't like to wear them together. I see nothing wrong with doing whatever you want on your ring. It's jewelry on your hand so it's really not affecting anyone else thus as far as I'm concerned there really are no rules.

I'm not doing a wedding band either. Because of the size and setting I don't even think I could have a band with my engagement ring. Plus I think it would take away from it.

I am actually doing one - primarily becuase it was important to fh - I told him I would definitely wear it if it didn't detract. He found something awesome.

Please ignore how grossly dirty my ring is right now. Edit - I am not wearing it now I was wearing it last night since fh picked it up yesterday and I was loving it!

Thanks for the replies ladies! FH actually doesn't want me to get one because he thinks it will detract from the engagement ring. I'm kind of with him.

What did you ladies do at the ceremony if you did have a new band?

When the bride will be wearing only 1 ring (engagement), the groom (or other bride) puts it on her finger during the ring exchange.

Jewlery sales rep here...many many brides come in and get a statement peice and choose no wedding band or a contour band
