Do you really not eat at your wedding?

Jillian, on November 13, 2013 at 11:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 53

I've always heard and seen it a few times on WW that the bride & groom rarely eat at their wedding.

That really depresses me. I want to eat! I feel like I can find 15 minutes for everyone to leave us the hell alone.

Why/what were the reasons if you didn't get a chance at your wedding?

I had a bunch of stuff going on, and so I had the cake that was smashed in my face, haha. I proooobably could have eaten, but had enough going on that it didn't seem like a big deal. My aunt packed us up some of the food and put it in our get away car, and we stopped for our favorite burgers on the way, haha. So we ate. Thing is, we eat pretty regularly, but this wedding is once in a lifetime, so we prioritized.

Alot don't because they do not make the time or they get caught up in visiting.. especially when it is a buffet... I was just in a wedding that was buffet and honestly if it weren't for myself and another BM the bride and groom probably would not have eaten.. We made their plates for them before everyone else and made them start eating while everyone was in line so they could get back to the party first.

Going from table to table saying hello's and thank you eats up (haha) a lot of their time and they take pictures during cocktail hour.

Which is why I'm doing first looks and a general Thank You speech at the beginning of dinner. I'm friggin eating.

We ate. In fact I feel like I overate! haha But I feel the reason we were able to eat is that we didn't go from table to table, we did a small receiving line during cocktail hour of just me and my hubby. And then we had a sweetheart table, so when dinner was served we got to sit down and eat. People could come up to us, but for the most part, we had a good amount of time just the two of us...eating!

This just came up on Monday when I was showing my mom and sister the venue. I stood in our venue ball room and looked at the three of them (the two I mentioned and the event coordinator) and said it is all of your personal responsibilities to ensure that I eat dinner. Event coordinator said that eating is a LOT easier if you have a sit down meal (which we do). Buffets are hard to get the B/G to eat, but sit downs...you are kind of in control of your food intake!

    Dear FMIL,

If you're paying for the reception, I'm getting your money's worth!!

I definitely ate at my first wedding. We led the buffet line. For the life of me I DO NOT understand NOT eating.

I did find it hard to get to the cookie table and the chocolate fountain, but I sure as hell made sure I ate dinner.

I think I would die watching someone eat a piece of prime rib without me.

I ate very little. 1) I was busy visiting 2) that dang dress was sooooo tight. But people made me eat throughout the day before the ceremony, so I didn't pass out. But I chowed down the next day on all the left overs!

If I don't eat I magically transform into a dragon. So I will be eating. For sure.

We ate!!! Our venue coordinator asked us ahead of time how we would like our plates made (we had a buffet) then she made our plates just before she released the first table so we ate while everyone else was getting their food. Then we went to every table to say thank you and did toasts while people were eating. They also got our drink orders and had a drink in our hands the whole night (I think I put down and "lost" like 10 drinks throughout the night...probably only drank the equivalent of 3).

I told my family that if they don't let me eat, then they will see a bridezilla. I get so cranky if I don't eat. I have let all of my bridal party know to be sure I get to eat.

We both ate our full meal, plus cake. The servers brought me apps during cocktail hour while I was having my dress bustled, plus there were a few plates of apps at the head table for us. I ate bread, salad, and my dinner, plus cake after. A few people came up to us during dinner to say hello and take a picture, but it wasn't bad. The food was awesome and I enjoyed every bite.

    I ate. I like food.

That being said I didn't finish my plate since I got full pretty quickly..DH finished my meal as well as his lol. Typically the bridal party gets served food first..There is really no reason why they wouldn't get time to eat. When you finish the meal that's when you go around thanking people. Guests will still be eating.
