Do you really need to have an Ceremony program???

wonderful moment, on January 4, 2010 at 12:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

Do I need to have one and put everyone as far as parents, grandparents, and bridal party etc in the program? Or can you skip it?

I'm not planning on having them. Our ceremony is going to only be about 15 minutes so I dont see a need to have one.

I wasn't sure about this either, wonderful moment. I think it's really all about preference.

We won't be having them and as J & Z said, it's really up to you and about your preferences.

We are, but we are using them as table assignments too - 1 program per party. If it were just a program then I wouldn't bother.

We weren't doing them, like Meg, our ceremony wasn't going to be long.

It's certainly a personal choice. I'm having them but I enjoy doing stuff like that. I've already been playing around with my design. I'm also pretty inquisitive and I always like to know who everybody is lol. It just depends on your wants and your skills I guess.

I was reading one bride's blog who did DIY fan programs. I remember reading at one point she looked out at the audience and saw a sea of (whatever color) waving around the audience.

I see people making them as fans. I don't want to do all that hard work for nothing. It will go by so fast. I am trying to keep it simple (Kis for 2010)

Its a personal preference. I've been to some weddings that have them and some that don't. I am making mine into fans for our outdoor wedding but I am into designing stuff like that.

I am pretty sure we are going to use them. I think it's a good idea because it allows the guests to know when the ceremony is over and what to expect. I don't know about you ladies but when I am going to a wedding I am waiting for it to be over so I can go to the reception and I think most guests are the same way, with programs the suspense of when the ceremony will be over is gone because they have the info in their hands. You should definitely have them if you are having the Lords prayer or a hymn for people to sing so they know the words.

All we are having is a harpist to play. I will walk down, we say our vows, and than we are done. It will take 10 mins to say vows. And 5 mins for everyone to walk out. I just want us to say I do and keep moving. I am like you Bickimook2 I don't want to be their two long. And I am not having any singing as well.

Wonderful Moment, you probably don't need wedding programs in your case. I see them most often when elements of a ceremony may be different, or culturally foreign to the majority of their guests, or if a special memorial (remembering deceased family members) is important to the couple.

I am doing my own so I doubt it will cost me over $20 including the cost of paper. Maybe a few dollars more if I decide to use ribbon.
