Do you put back up ceremony location in the invites?

CN&AK, on January 7, 2015 at 7:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

So, I have an indoor backup option about 10-15 minutes walk.

Living in utah desert... Rain comes very unexpectedly even in the middle of summer.

We have a website we can update but should i put the back up in the invite?

I'm going to say no. If rain ends up being forecasted, tell them closer. Letting everyone know now will probably confuse some of the guests.

If it rains unexpectedly I would suspect you wouldn't know until a day or two before if you needed to use your back up location. If I were you, I would have a list of all your guests phone numbers broken into chunks and delegate people (family, bridal party, whoever is comfortable), to contact your guests on your behalf if you need to use the back up location. It doesn't sound like a very fun thing to do a day or s before your wedding, so it would be helpful if other people were in charge of this.

I don't think you should put it on the back of the invitation. It might be confusing to guests.

Is your backup location close to your actual location? Our ceremony is outdoors on a patio of an Inn and the backup is in a room inside the Inn, so if it rains, it will be easy to redirect. If its not nearby, then I would just make sure you have a "phone chain" so your bridal party can help you spread the word, you will be too busy!. Worst case scenario, put a sign up at the actual location and anticipate late arrivals. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain!

Yeah, leave it off the invite. Having something on your website is enough. If the location is changed due to rain just inform guests, it will be a pain but not worth confusing your guests now.

I think putting it on the website is fine. But you should probably have a plan to contact each of your guests individually if you need to use the backup. A lot of people won't check the website. I like @Silan's suggestion of breaking the guest list into chunks and asking people to contact groups of guests.

Looks like i'm gonna be making another spreadsheet for bridal party... lol

    so to conclude this

    NO on the invites

    YES on the wedding website

Task each person with about 10-20 phone numbers....

    mmm.. not a bad idea...

@AthenaKay... HI date twin Smiley smile
