Do you guys keep in good contact with vendors??

pearl, on April 13, 2012 at 10:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

I feel like once I talked to them on what I wanted, signed contracts, and gave either full amounts or deposits they kinda go MIA. So do I just wait a week before the wedding and then confirm everything again...? or maybe a month before?? I mean I don't need to have a relationship/ friendship with my vendors, I know they must be busy as well...

Contact them 4-6 weeks before your wedding. Most, if not all, vendors will need to sit down with you in the month before to get specific timelines and details.

Thats what I was thinking... and not bug them unless I have a question.

I do touch base every once in awhile to make sure they are still in business and everything is a go, but I wait until I have something specific to ask or let them know.

I'm FB friends with my minister. She's helped me a lot along the way. My baker isw a close friend so she doesn't count but with my photographer, he's ubber busy. I know he will be where he needs to be so I just checked in 4 weeks before the wedding to touch base and send a list of formals. And a timeline.

I am FB friends with our photog and DOC. And they are awesome! We're always commenting on each others' status updates or pictures. I just touch base every so often with our officiant, DJ and service staff.

I keep in touch with my photographer. Because we're still kind of far out for details, I haven't really heard from my other vendors.

I really haven't kept in good contact with a lot. I have emailed some once after the payment. I will start contacting them at the end of the month. AAH so excited!

I am a meticulous planner, and am in contact with my vendors a lot. After the conference room fiasco of earlier in the week, now I am panicked that another detail was left undone, but I haven't found it yet. I'm sure they think I'm a pest, but I really don't care. ;-)

Hey - on a photography standpoint, after you've booked typically communication falls off a bit because there really isn't too much to discuss until you've gotten more aspects of your wedding in place. Unless you've booked other services with your photographer, such as albums or save the date photo cards etc. there's not a lot to talk about in the mean time. Smiley smile You should obviously contact your vendors should anything change by means of time needed or venue changes etc. but otherwise we like to touch base with our clients (in person) about a month before their wedding to go through all the final details of the day.

I'm in contact with them all bc I always have questions about something. I haven't talked to the DJ in a few weeks though.

Yeah I don't really keep in good contact with the vendors - I will most likely just get in touch with them when the wedding gets closer....our photographer is FH friend so he keeps in contact with him a bit

Most of my couples will send me things that they've found if they want to include them in the wedding; readings, etc....then a questionnaire two months out, but beyond that, we don't really talk on a regular basis unless there is something to talk about.

As a former reception site owner, I always felt we were your main contact since we were where most of your vendors are involved. Our planners really were involved in helping coordinate and tie the timeline together with vendors. We had a lot invested to want to have your day be perfect. So, I would recommend using your reception site coordinator as your poc for helping you feel pulled together.

This is one of the reason that I waited until right before the wedding to make my final payment to most vendors. That way they HAD to keep in contact with me. Smiley laugh Smiley laugh I had the money to pay earlier, but I didn't just in case. A month before I emailed all my vendors, and met with most the week before the wedding. Then I gave all of their info my DOC and had a great wedding. Smiley laugh
