Do moms really wear... corsages these days?

Jenn, on March 28, 2013 at 2:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 47

Well... do they? Or is that kind of old school? Were doing our own flowers and the GM aren't wearing boutineers (only the dads) so I was wondering if we need to make corsages for the moms as well?

I just saw another post about no flower corsages but i'm wondering if we should do them in general...?

We are, only because my mom is old school and wants one. It doesn't matter to me or FH.

Our moms are getting wrist corsages (because I don't want them to put pins holes in the fabric of their dresses, and because I think wrist corsages are adorable. Grandmother and organist are getting pin on corsages. Officiant will be in clerical robe, so she can't wear a pin on corsage, though I totally would get her one if she could. Moms don't want to carry a bouquet, but they do deserve something special Smiley smile

The FFIL and grandfather are getting boutonnieres. My dad will be in Navy Mess Dress and can't wear a boutonniere with it, just like FH can't because he's wearing Air Force Mess Dress.

Even a simple carnation with baby's breath is nice. You could also get a wrist corsage for them if they prefer that (some people may not want something pinned to them). In addition, you may also have your MOH and BM recite a nice poem to recognize parents while you hand them a gift, such as a small bible or a framed photo of their own wedding day, or other sentimental item.

Moms and FH's daughter will have wrist corsages. I think regular corsages tend to get smashed when you dance.

Give a lady a flower, and she'll walk the aisle with her head a little higher. It's a sign of honor, and most moms love that (and deserve it) -- especially at their daughters' wedding.

I am making magnetic corsages so they won't affect the fabric. I'm including a "bling" brooch that I modified to go with the flowers too. :-)

My mom, MIL and my grandmother all got wrist corsages. We went with wrist ones as to not damage the fabric of dresses and all the ladies are old school and like them.

I'm a MOB and we are doing nosegays for myself & the MOG. My dress has thin straps and the MOG's dress is too busy for a corsage. A wrist corsage would drive me crazy.

It is up to you if you would like them to wear one. My mom and MIL will both be wearing one. I went with the wrist ones with crystal beading for the bracelet part.
