do it yourself wedding invitations templates

Brianna N, on June 19, 2019 at 9:56 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 4 35

Hey everyone! For those who made their own invitations (whether you purchased a template, made your own, etc.), would you mind sharing how/what you did? Did you buy a template? Where/how did you print them? Where did you get the paper to print them on? Did you use a store like office depot/staples? I really would like to save money on my invites and every website is at least 200-300 bucks for them.

Any and all suggestions welcome! And if you have pictures, I would love to see them Smiley smile Thank you guys!

We used Vistaprint for ours. We got the 5x7 template, and my FH used that in photoshop's to design them. Uploaded them to Vistaprint, and for 80 invites, RSVP cards, and envelopes for both it came out to around 160. We even splurged and paid for rush shipping because we needed them out, so am they could have been 30 bucks cheaper. We also sign es d up with email and got 25% off the total price. We upgraded 1 level of paper to premium matte and they came out great! We used one of their pre-designed RSVP cards though. All in all, relatively inexpensive for what we got, super easy to do, and everyone has loved them so far!

We got a template off Etsy and the shop owner customized everything for our info. We paid about $30 for the invite, RSVP and thank you. We then had them printed on Vistaprint for under $200 for 150 invites and rsvps, including envelopes. This is the suite we got.

I made my own using Adobe Illustrator based off of a mash-up of a couple invitations I liked on Etsy (you can get a free trial of Illustrator...I had used it previously so I knew a little bit about how to use it) I purchased some of the clipart & watercolor florals via creative market & I think those were around $15? I used Prints of Love to get them printed and was really happy with the quality! I found Prints of Love via an Etsy seller because she had mentioned that was who she used for her printing in the item description. I paid $144 for 100 invitations and RSVP cards. They come with free white envelopes but I ended up purchasing kraft paper envelopes on Amazon so that cost me another $30 I think? So total I was around $190+postage for 100 invitations. Here was what I ended up with (the address is whited out)

Okay so this isn’t the picture of us we are going with because it messes with the wording but this is the one we love!! It’s a dollar per invite. I clicked on an invitation and then just personalized it. So not necessarily a template but... it’s from zazzle.com. 😘

I found mine on clearance at Michaels for $14 for 40 invitations. The kit came with the decorated cards, envelopes, rsvp cards and envelopes and there was a link to a website with the template for the particular invites I have. Just have to type your info in. I printed them at home and they came out beautifully. I added a little ribbon for my own decorative touches and viola!

I designed our invites in Photoshop, because I couldn’t find what I wanted online. That’s obviously free if you have basic Photoshop or Illustrator skills. Etsy also sells all kinds of cool digital paper backgrounds, if you want to incorporate some more specific elements into design.
We didn’t print ours, because we really want to do everything online (for automatic tracking, RSVPs & our guests prefer it). But I printed few invites at home for our parents, on my printer using high quality shimmery (super pretty) card-stock from Amazon ($18 for 96 letter size sheets). If your invites don’t have any foil or glittery elements you can for sure print them at home.

I used Cardsandpockets. I purchased monogram pockets, glitter gold mats, and both invitation and rsvp envelopes from them for $150 (certain colors are more than others). I designed and printed everything myself at home on heavy cardstock from staples and I did gold embossed vellum belly bands with a stamp I carved myself. Sounds like a lot of work but I enjoy crafting.

I recommend printing at a local print shop. I saved like $80. It only cost me $30 to print 100 front and back

I actually designed our invites using procreate on my Ipad. We then had them printed using Shutterfly.

What etsy shop is this?? I'm a huge tangled fan and yellow, lavender, and plum are out colors so this could really work!
