Hey everyone! For those who made their own invitations (whether you purchased a template, made your own, etc.), would you mind sharing how/what you did? Did you buy a template? Where/how did you print them? Where did you get the paper to print them on? Did you use a store like office depot/staples?...

Hey everyone! For those who made their own invitations (whether you purchased a template, made your own, etc.), would you mind sharing how/what you did? Did you buy a template? Where/how did you print them? Where did you get the paper to print them on? Did you use a store like office depot/staples? I really would like to save money on my invites and every website is at least 200-300 bucks for them.

Any and all suggestions welcome! And if you have pictures, I would love to see them Smiley smile Thank you guys!

Oh, good suggestion! That is super cheap compared to online websites.

Hobby lobby has the paper and styles you go online and pick the wording you’d like to have and it’s essentially fill in the blank.

I ordered 80 save the dates/envelopes, 80 invitations/envelopes, and 80 RSVP/return envelopes for $100 at Walgreens! They were originally $255 but I found a 60% off coupon, they always have good coupons out there!

I purchased a template on Etsy that was on sale for under $10 and included the invite and RSVP card. The shop doesn’t exist anymore otherwise I’d link it.

We got cardstock form paperandmore.com and I will print the invitations at my parents house.

I also got a gate fold card template with a butterfly detail from Etsy that I’m cutting out in my Cricut. I will adhere the worded invitation inside of the card with some thin double sided tape squares Smiley smile

Total cost of all the paper and templates was about $60

We did our own. I went to Google and picked some styles then FH chose between them. We had already discussed the general look for what we wanted. It helps that my family owns the print shop I work at so designing and printing my own was free other than the custom paper I wanted that I got at a discount through our supplier. I love how they came out. If you know how to use Photoshop, you can pretty much create anything you see on Google or Pinterest. Once you have the file, you can either print them at home or take them to your local print shop. I would suggest printing them on a 100lb stock.

Michael's! I don't have a pic but ours (the ones we actually wanted!) were on clearance so we got 120 diy invites (incl the cardstock, ribbons, envelopes, reply cards, and reply card envelopes AND the template which made creation a snap!) for $75! We printed them on our home printer and they came out great! Definitely keep an eye out for sales and end of bridal season clearance sales - that's what happened for us. They needed to make room for new stock. If it wasn't on clearance it would have been around $120 for thr set - still not terrible!

Mine just came today I’m so excited!! My templates were $24 on Etsy and about$80 to print and ship 50 on printrunner.com. I preferred print runner because vistaprint didn’t have the sizes I wanted. Envelopes from Cards and Pockets and belly bands from Etsy also.

I went with a template from MagnetStreet and had them printed by them. I wanted to get my invitations done quickly and simply and have them match my wedding website, so this was what worked best for me.

I created my own using Canva. I knew I save the dates and invitations were not something I wanted to devote much money to, but the final impetus was more that I wasn't finding what I liked. Finally I did find one invitation I liked (I think on greetings island) but the colors weren't right. So I used that as inspiration and created my own. I am no graphic design wiz, but I had the time to fiddle around for a while and was able to come up with something totally unique.

For the invitation I used the "announcement" dimensions (5 x 7) because I wanted a vertical invitation, and for the save the date I used the "card" dimensions (7 x 5). There is a pro version with more features, but I got by with the free option. I watched YouTube videos anytime I couldn't figure something out.

I think save the dates should be small (personal preference of course), so after I finished I downloaded them and then resized them so 4 fit on a page with approximate dimensions of 5 x 3. I then printed those on card stock at Stapes for something like 76 cents a page (each page containing 4 save the dates). I then cut them out myself.

However, when it comes time to print the invitations I think I will print them through Canva. The price was reasonable and has the added advantage of not requiring me to cut out anything. Also, all our paper goods have an English and a Spanish version and that way I can just print them double sided and only need to worry about a total number needed not a number in each language.

Eventually I will also create an insert with RSVP info, but we are asking for all RSVPs to be electronic so I won't create a response card.

I'm in the process of doing mine now. I got a template on Etsy that is fully customizable. I calculated it out and will the invites (5x7), details (4x6), RSVP and bridal party accommodation cards printed at Staples and trim myself. I found the envelopes online, and will wrap with chiffon ribbon and close with a wax seal. The entire package and embellishments comes to $200 including ordering samples for color matching purposes. I'll post pics when The trial one is done!

I used Vistaprint to print my invitations. 80 invites (5x7 flat, full color on both sides) with plain white envelopes for $70, but that is finding a good coupon, which Vistaprint almost always has. Use Honey app to find the best coupon fast.

I found a template/ invitation I liked on Etsy that I could edit and download. They used an online program called Templett which was really easy to use. Then I sent the pdf file to a local print shop and they printed them on cardstock and cut them for me. Mine was a simple black and white design.
We didn't need many invitations (I ordered 26 and still have leftovers) but I think the whole thing cost me $20.
