Do I need to put stamps on envelopes for RSVP's?

FutureMrsAF, on February 14, 2017 at 7:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38

I literally hadn't thought about this until my wedding binder mentioned that you don't need to put postage for RSVP's that will be mailed back to you from out of the country, so..... do I need to put stamps on all of the envelopes for people to mail them back to me?

I don't know why this is something I hadn't thought about. Does anyone know if this is proper etiquette or just something that my book is encouraging but isn't necessary?

I would say that it is proper to put stamps on the envelopes for your guest to mail back to you. It's something that you'll need to add into your budget for the wedding.

Yes, you need to include stamps. I'd give you some major side eye if you sent me an invite and didn't give me a stamp for my response.

Make sure there is enough to get it back to you as well

Yes, you do. Without a doubt. If you have any questions as to how much your out of country invitations need in postage, collect them all and take them to the Post Office. It might be a small amount of money, but it is definitely something guests will notice.

Yes, although I remember a bride commenting that it wasn't as expected in other countries. If it were me I'd still do it though.

I didn't put stamps on the RSVP for two envelopes that went to Australia. I asked the post office about this. Apparently their postage works differently so they told me not to. Otherwise, I would have.

If you add stamps you're more likely to receive more RSVPs back!

We sent invites to London and we placed Global stamps on the RSVPs. Just take them to the Post Office with their address and they will tell you exactly what you need

Yes. I think this rule is less about the price and more about convenience. It makes it easier for the guest because they can just stick it in the mail. A surprising amount of people don't have stamps on hand and would have to go buy them or borrow one.

Yes you need to put on stamps for domestic ones.Think of it as making it as easy as humanly possible for your guests to rsvp. This way all they have to do is write the response, seal the envelope, and pop it in the mail. You don't/can't stamp international ones, unless you're somehow able to get that country's postage, because local postage won't work internationally.

I am not positive on this one but I looked up a previous WW post when I sent my international invites. American global stamps will get your invite there but I don't think they will work on the returned rsvp. I had to have my FFIL send over Italian stamps so I could stamp my international invites.

Like I said, I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure.
