Do I need to put stamps on envelopes for RSVP's?

I literally hadn't thought about this until my wedding binder mentioned that you don't need to put postage for RSVP's that will be mailed back to you from out of the country, so..... do I need to put stamps on all of the envelopes for people to mail them back to me? I don't know why this is...

I don't know why this is something I hadn't thought about. Does anyone know if this is proper etiquette or just something that my book is encouraging but isn't necessary?

Thanks for the post, I was also wondering the same thing. I figured it would be better safe than sorry, but it's always good to get confirmation.

@Timeladyerika-I researched a LOT for my invites, and you are correct. You can send your invites anywhere in the world, but only the postage of that country will work for the return. Having someone send you Italian stamps was a great solution. I only have a handful of international guests in multiple countries, so I ultimately decided that they would either figure it out, or email me.

You absolutely have to stamp your RSVP envelopes. Imagine how much harder it will be to track down people who don't RSVP if they have to put their own stamp on the envelope too?! Lol!

Yes. I just received an invitation for another event from someone on our guest list. This person's RSVP did not include a stamp. My mom was pretty salty about that, so you can bet that others were too. I briefly considered "forgetting" to put a stamp on her RSV P for my wedding, but I've got my etiquette ducks in a row.

If you want them back, yes. They should be addressed and stamped.

@Shiny It's important for people to know that information. Like I said, I was pretty sure but didn't want to be wrong and rude af.

Basically, if you have out of country guests do NOT use American global stamps on your rsvps. They are useless.

You stamp domestic ones but not foreign ones. I checked at the post office when I was mailing mine out.

This is disgusting! It’s an inconvenience to find one stamp and return an envelope? What happened to appreciation that you even got invited.. the bride/groom already paid for
postage once - to get your invitation to you- the least you can do is stamp & mail it back. Especially when Domestic 2 ounce stamps are nearly a dollar each!

Yes, don't be cheap and not put stamps on the RSVP. Otherwise, you may not receive one back and people may show up anyways. Not many people anymore carry stamps on them.

I am so glad someone finally said it! Between the cost of everything else for a wedding and the over $50 for stamps for the actual envelopes for the invites, I’m supposed to pay another $50 on top of the over $750 I already paid for the invites? No thanks, get a stamp.
