I’m honestly just curious to see how many of you have a do not play list you’re giving to your wedding DJ. & why unless it is too personal of course. My dad is a DJ and rarely has clients that give him one but every so often someone does and it’s usually very specific. For example: “NO KELLY...

No R kelly. Even though we love the music, we don’t like him and we don’t want to offend any guests.

We dont want any of the formation dances like the macarena. I will allow the cupid shuffle and absolutely NO chicken dance. Even threatened not to pay our DJ if I hear that! I hear our DJ can dance like Michael Jackson.....so hes going to be made to play AND dance!!! But hey... who doesn't like a little Beat it or Billy Jean???

We are not allowing for any requests at all. The DJ becomes bombarded with requests that only one person may want to here. So no requests at all. Hope this helps.

Same for us. The only song that's really on our "do not play" list is the Cotton Eyed Joe lol but I'm pretty sure our DJ would also omit the others you mentioned for the same reason

    I'm picky.

    -No rap.

-No typical choreographed line dance songs. (This includes the chicken dance, macarena, etc.)

-No racial music of any kind. (We are a multiracial couple and don't like anything that divides people or spreads hate.)

-NO DISCO! How many times can the same songs be played? "YMCA", "It's raining men." Ugh!

Basically, nothing older than 80's, with the exception that I'll let my parents choose a couple of songs they like. They are dance instructors and will want to dance to a couple of the real classics. It's awesome to watch them.

I know exactly how you feel. My mom passed away in 2015 and her Favorite song is "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake. We played it at her funeral but I actually will be playing it as part of our "group karaoke" because that actually always makes me smile. But her other favorite song is "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and that absolutely will NOT be played. I'll be just like you, crying in the corner!

I hadn't really given it much thought, but after reading this discussion, I'm going to have to make one! I also hate Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Ed Sheeran I don't mind as much. But as I mentioned in a previous comment "What a Wonderful World" will NOT be played. Absolutely NO country (except Tennessee Whiskey because...Chris Stapleton) The only group dance I am allowing is the Cupid Shuffle. We don't really listen to "popular" music. Mostly rock music like Shinedown, Volbeat, Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Greta Van Fleet (it's kinda hard to play any of those except Shinedown at a wedding) My FH's 7 year old keeps us pretty in the loop though so I'll just ask her what some good songs to play are lol. I also like the idea of not allowing requests. People will pick some crazy stuff.

Yea we can't have that on our wedding days! Having the song you can sing with everyone will be really great for you! She will be singing along too!

We're not really having any hip hop played, but we didn't say absolutely none. We just know in our family Granny will be appalled if she hears something like Hot in Here by Nelly playing. LOL

I dont have a DNP list, but on my invitations I added a line on the RSVP cards for a song request for each guests and that has helped me a lot.
