I’m honestly just curious to see how many of you have a do not play list you’re giving to your wedding DJ. & why unless it is too personal of course. My dad is a DJ and rarely has clients that give him one but every so often someone does and it’s usually very specific. For example: “NO KELLY...

We have one....well really I have one. My mother passed away a fee years ago and her and her sisters loved sweet caroline. I know thats a big wedding song so I will be specifically asking for them not to play that. At any wedding I've been to since then I can't help but cry soooo I don't need that at mine. We will honor her and im sure it will be hard either way but I don't need everyonw jumping around and singing that song and me crying in the corner!
Ghetto rap music. I don't have any problem with rap, I just know that my audience majority doesn't listen to rap music. I'm also vetoing songs that are inappropriate, and my FH has his own list of music he doesn't want played. I'm not picky about the music, but FH is
We only have one song "Remember When" by Alan Jackson. It was the song my grandmother and deceased grandfather danced to at their wedding, so out of respect, we decided to retire that song all together.
I did this at my first wedding, and the DJ played one song anyway when a guest requested it. I did not participate in the train cause I hate it, which is why I put the song on my list. People kept trying to get me to lead the train. No, just no. I was not happy with that dj.
We're doing a do not play list and are hoping it isn't too restrictive. We're barring our parents first dance songs (since they're all divorced), anything with choreography, "I Will Survive" or similar stuff (just don't think that's good for a wedding), and anything with vulgarity. Our "please do play" list is kind of equally specific so it shouldn't be too much of an issue but we're basically asking for the dinner hour to be all jazz standards (tons of Ella), some slow dances thrown in with the pre-dessert music, and then our cake cutting song will lead into what we are calling our 1997 Hour of Power. Such a great year for music and so much nostalgia! Plus a lot of relatives and older guests will have left by then so we can shamelessly relive our high school years!
No R. Kelly, PERIOD. No country or rock. No Taylor Swift. Our crowd is mostly 30's plus so most of our music will be 90's and 00's R&B and hip hop with some pop and oldies mixed in.

I wanted to do no Kanye as well but some of his music is soooooo good and it eliminates so many songs between features and production. So I backed off on that a bit.
We don't want macarena, chicken dance, electric slide, etc. Our DJ had a box to check if we do or don't want those. We are having the cupid shuffle but thats it for dances like that
We are putting rap music on our do not play list, unless it is the edited clean versions because we will have so many kids at our wedding/ reception and would like it to be appropriate for them.l, plus I absolutely dislike rap music.

Girl me too! It was a tough decision but he’s said too many dumb things and I don’t wanna watch the floor clear when golddigger or any other song of his comes on lol.

Our do not play songs are songs that make me cry. Like you should be here by Cole swindel and a song that my fh ex who desperately tried to break us up called "their song" she was a total stalker lol
I have a few songs I don't want to be played, but I'm actually pretty particular about music seeing as I'm a music teacher. I'm so used to curating all the songs on programs and having themes and the right pacing. I'm thinking about doing a little bit of DIY DJing, but I'm not sure. I hate the idea of working my own wedding or having a friend work the wedding.
My husband actually said NO Kelly Clarkson as well. He can't stand her music, I said no classic wedidng dances as well- Chicken Dance, Macarena, cupid shuffle, etc.
I currently have only 1 song on my do not play list - Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses. Very random, but there is an embarrassing strou behind it. One of my friends for sure will find it funny requesting the song. Not a chance that it will be played.
