diy Centerpeices - Where did you get your artificial flowers?

Candice, on July 6, 2019 at 7:19 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 33

Hey Ladies,

DIY bride on a budget here. I've decided I want to do small floral and greenery mixed wreath type pieces to put my center pieces on. I want to make something like in this picture but all the garland I can find is just greenery and all the artificial flowers I've found have very thick stems that are hard to weave into arrangements like this.

I want each wreath or garland to be about two feet in circumference or about 8 inches in diameter

Where did you buy your garlands and flowers?

Would starting with a foam wreath or embroidery hoop as a base be easier than molding the shape out of flowers and garlands alone?

Any advice is appreciated.

What I want to replicate but can be less full. diy Centerpeices - Where did you get your artificial flowers? 1

I haven't bought any florals yet, but I've been looking! Hobby Lobby is a great place to look! Also, maybe try Etsy! Many sellers would be happy to custom design wreaths/garlands to your wanted measurements

I checked etsy but nobody will do what I'm looking for anywhere near my price range so I'd rather do them myself.

If I were going to make some like this i personally would buy some foam wreaths (they're normally at dollar tree). Then maybe buy some greenery you like and possibly foam flowers? I absolutely love foam flowers and havent discovered them until wedding planning. Im not sure what kinds of flowers you can get in foam though. I only know roses for sure. They are on ebay for $7 for 50 flower heads. You could hot glue the greenery and the flower heads to the foam.
Just a thought. Hope this helps!

Yes to the foam or Styrofoam wreath as a base. Dollartee has them. You can get a case online for $30 ( 30 pieces) hard to find in bulk in stores.
With the wreath as a base , you can place things right where you want them and determine the length. Garland can be cut in smaller pieces to weave around outside or cut the branches and place them for fullness.

More than likely- I know Michaels rotates their season items early yo prepare for the next one. I would recommend signing up for emails and keeping an eye on sales.

I did have to buy mine a few months in advance, but hey, I got them for 70% off!

Not a centerpiece, but this wreath is made on a Styrofoam wreath base( bigger than what you need, just an example)
I used flowers from Wal-Mart and the dollar tree.
For your centerpiece, make it on a table so that you can look down on it to place each flower. Put a vase, or the lantern you are using inside the wreath form, so you can judge the height and angles that you want.
You can make them up ahead of time on the Styrofoam.
I'm sure you already know all of this, just trying to helpSmiley smile

I got my flowers from Joann’s when they were discounting their spring flowers for 60%off. These are the test run for my centerpieces

No idea what colors you want, so I just pulled this as an example. We got Garland with greenery and flowers at Michael's. Wait for a sale or use a coupon. Florals go on sale frequently.
