Your Engagement Ring: Total Surprise, Some Input, or Picked it Out Yourself?

He knew i liked the halo style, but we never went shopping for rings, and he also knew i wanted my grandfathers great grandmothers diamond put in my setting! And he did a great job!

I picked mine out but the proposal was a surprise. I love my ring, it's different to me and I love the uniqueness that it holds, it's antique but 1 carat and it was the best price, lower than we thought that we would send.

My fiancé built my ring! the only thing I told him I wanted out of a ring was the twisted band. I had no idea he was even thinking about proposing when I told him that, but that’s what i got!

Total surprise!!! He asked my parents, brothers, and children 4 months before he proposed to me at my family reunion. Gorgeous older ring that is not brand new, but I love it because he did it completely on his own and did a great job.

FH and I picked it out together. My EXH picked out two rings I absolutely hated. FH told me the ring is something I will wear for the rest of my life and he wanted me to love it and love wearing it. We looked at several different places and rings before we decided on what he wanted to purchase, because my face lit up just looking at the ring and I didn't have that look anywhere else. He proposed with two of my best friends being there.

We went together to pick out each others rings. Since we both have to wear them for the rest of our lives we agreed to do this. And boy am I glad we did. I thought I knew exactly what cut I wanted, but I was surprised when I put it on my hand how terrible it looked lol so needless to say we went to a few places to find the perfect one that I liked and looked great on my hand. Now the proposal was a surprise. I didn't know when it was going to happen.

It was a surprise. I just showed him styles that I like. FH then recruited my little sister to help pick it out with him! They both did an awesome job!

It was a total surprise to me we had been engaged for about a year one day he called me up at work and said he had a surprise he showed up at work with a teddy bear larger than me a card and a little jewlery box

We went together. He and I had very similar styles so it wasn't hard picking out what we both liked. He actually gave input on the design that I hadn't considered, so I felt like that was the perfect amount of uniqueness for us. I love my ring and I love my FH!!!

I picked out the ring a couple years back (a beautiful white gold ring with rose gold accents and a peek-a-boo setting underneath), but he completely blindsided me with the proposal itself. He took me to a really nice dinner and had my best friend come to film the proposal - he then surprised me with a little desert/get together with my family and all of my best friends!

The ring is his great grandmas ring, she got it from a friend and it’s been passed down from daughter to daughter and then to son and he proposed!

We had been talking about getting engaged for ages! I have him some ideas of what I liked, different gems (I'm not really a diamond girl and he doesn't like the conflict), different cuts and all that. He ended picking a beautiful oval Australian black opal with tiny little diamonds on eitherside. I loved it he got it off of etsy. I'm heart broken because the opal fell out while I was cleaning at work and its lost forever.
