Your Engagement Ring: Total Surprise, Some Input, or Picked it Out Yourself?

We picked it out together. A close family friend is a jewler and he had me look at his inventory and pick out several that I liked. Then we went together and picked out the final ring. My original favorite hee didn't feel was bridal enough so we moved on and we came to the one of a kind ring I have now. Thre will never be another like it, he destroyed the cast after he made it. He'd actually made it in 2012 and was very selective of who he would show it to. It really makes a girl feel special!

I picked it out and was there when he bought it, he just showed me a picture online and asked if I liked it. We got it off of Letgo lol!

I used to work at the jewelry store my FH got my ring ☺️❤️ They’re like family to me! I had some input on the setting but he picked out the stone and I love it! I’m happy we were able to get something together and it means so much to me for so many reasons.

We went to a jewelry store once, just for fun, prior to our engagement. I tried on a few rings and told FH what I liked. He went shopping with his mom and one sister, who have completely different taste than me, and thank god he listened to what I wanted and got me the perfect ring for me!

We went together and while I was looking at other rings, he found this one immediately knew it was the ring and I saw it and fell in love! 😍

When we started talking about getting married I showed him various styles I liked. I wanted something unique so gave him free reign. (However, we agreed that my engagement would be him picking it out, but I would choose my own wedding ring afterwards.)
he ended up getting one custom made and while it was nothing I would have designed on my own, I love it and the thought and detail he put into it.

He chose rose rose gold with the center diamond being a heart, with two diamonds on the side, and a bunch of small diamonds running along the band. He said each side diamond represented him and I, the heart was our love, and all the little ones along the band were all our memories together from the past and to look forward to moving forward.

I love it, and how much thought he put into it. Can’t wait to design my own tho!

My husband and I looked at rings together and I helped him pick out three or four that I really liked, then he picked one without letting me know which, so it was still a surprise when he formally proposed.

He picked it out. I sent him pics of ones I found that I liked and he jokingly asked me about some he saw in an advertisement.
He asked me a long time ago what shape i liked, and remembered.
But in the end I had no say and he did an amazing job i LOVE my ring!

We went shopping together, he's not one for surprises and it's such an investment, he didn't want me to hate it.

My parents own a jewelry store so fiance knew I'd have to know some of it. I custom designed my ring but he helped. He also picked out the diamond without me. I didn't know when he was proposing though!

Complete shock! He gave me his great grandmother's ring. I love it!!

We went shopping together so I could show him styles I like, and we found the Disney collection at Zales. He knows I love Disney and he told me the Rapunzel ring fits my personality the most so he bought it (Tangled is of course my favorite movie)! I told him I didn’t want to know when I was getting it though! My proposal was definitely a surprise so I was happy

We had talked about getting married for a while, over a year and looked online so he could get an idea of what I liked. He said I had to wear it everyday so he wanted me to love it. He knew I wanted an emerald cut center stone. His friend owns a jewelry store so when he found the stone he liked which was almost flawless (color E, VVS1) he wanted it to stand out. He went with a petite band. Which he had to customize the setting since all the petites only fit round or princess stones. He did awesome I’m obsessed with my ring

We went together to Shane Company the day after she proposed and both ended up finding rings we love. They are both white gold. Hers is a simple band with a diamond halo around a red ruby and mine is a vintage looking ring with filligree and ten small diamonds inset with a green saphire. Whenever we go back for a cleaning or to buy my wedding gift, we always stop to say hi to Jamie who helped us and she likes hearing what we've been up to.

I had some input - I told him that I liked round cut diamond with white gold and sent him example pics. The rest was up to him and he did amazing.

He had been working at Kay's Jewelers for a while with my aunt (who is very close to both of us) and she helped him pick it out, and every time I went to the mall to see him, when he was slow he would let me try on different rings but I dont remember trying on the one he proposed to me with. He knew I love bling, and found the perfect one, took me by surprise what he picked out. I love it.

Total surprise. It's snow white themed. He asked the jeweler to take out the diamond and put in a natural ruby in its place since I'm not a fan of diamonds. It also has accent diamonds on the band. Looks like a red apple and vines if you think about it.

I had some input. We were on vacation at Disney and wandered into a couple jewelry stores at the mall. I must’ve tried on 6 or 7 rings. Apparently later on in the day (while I was at the spa), he went back and got this one, which was my favorite but I kept saying it was too big!

I totally picked it out. My FH was relieved. He says it's perfect, but that he never would have picked it out.

The pink

It was 100% a surprise! Apparently he had been ring hunting for months and was always afraid I'd see the ads for rings pop up on his facebook since he was on so many ring pages lol. I had no idea he was going to propose so I never mentioned anything about ring styles or anything. The ring he picked is 100% one I would pick. He even had pink sapphires added since it's my favorite color.
