NWR: finding the perfect jeans *PLUS SIZE*

jlu, on September 9, 2012 at 12:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

So, i lost 65 pounds from ****. got divorced, fell in love and gained 30 back. I'm now a size 16 again, and I need more jeans!!! the problem is, i'm an apple shape....i usually have to go up 1-2 sized to get the waist to not produce muffin-top, but then the butt and thighs are baggy.

any good brands for this shape? thanks!!

I love my style&co jeans from Macy's. My waist is small but my hips and butt (I can only think God has a warped sense of humor) are way fluffy! I have to buy a size or two bigger just for those monstrosity of hips I have! lol

@Kasey C. - I feel your pain. I am all hips and butt. I struggle to find jeans also jlu. Everything nowadays is skinny, which I hate.

If you have a Torrid in your area, try them. I have found a style of jean that I love there. They have fits for almost every body type.

Girl let me tell you, I'd much rather be in a induced labor without pain meds than go jean shopping. I walk away crying everytime!

I forgot about torrid! You can order online from them too!

You can also try Catos, Lane Bryants, and The Avenue.

I like torrid as well. I am from Canada, so I don't get there a lot, but I have found some great stuff there.

Oh yes the dreaded jean shopping days ... no matter what style I buy I either look to fat, to short or just plain unattractive ... I get green with envy when I see these women in the mall or at the store in their perfect jeans ... I have a tummy, an okay waist, big butt and huge thighs so for me jean shopping is a horrid experience ... as well ... There is one pair of jeans I like and they are from JCP and they are Amanda jeans ... I still am not in LOVE with the way I look in them but they are better than some others I've tried.

The website Chadwicks has great jeans that actually hold you in. I wear them for riding. I love the 5 pocket straight leg cut. I don't buy any relaxed fit because, imho, I just fill in the "relaxed" area with the extra bumps I have. ; )

Also, Lord and Taylor sells a jean called "Not Your Daughter's Jeans". Somehow, they make your arse look fabulous AND hold you in. They are pricey at about $100 a pair. However, if you buy one black and one denim, you are good to go for a pair of "going out jeans". THey come in boot cut, etc. They rarely go on sale and most discount coupons don't apply. I nearly died when I saw the price tag, but when DH saw them on me, he bought them for me. Yes, they are that good. I look about 10 pounds lighter and the arse is not sagging.

I've always been told torrid, or maybe buy big and have a tailor fix the waist. I'm smaller I'm not a real big girl, but I have huge thighs and my calves are large ( over the knee socks sometimes don't even fit, boots usually zip onmy calves it's terrible) and I've got no butt. Needless to say I

Love my belts because I always have to buy for my thighs to fit in the pants and the waist is too big. I hate it. People of all sizes have issues, just not always the same ones.

I am also apple shaped and have a hard time with baggy bottom and thigh. I swore by the old Lane Bryant jeans but I don't care for the new style as much because I only wear flare and they stopped that cut. I know they do the right fit which should help if your good with bootcut, straight, or skinny. My friend loves the Torrid jeans. I think they are a lot of the times cut to low. I recently got a couple of pairs from Old Navy and was surprised by how awesome the fit is...specifically this pair...http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=48663&vid=8&pid=269892&scid=269892002. They come up high enough to avoid muffin top and there is no baggy butt!

Thanks Tyra! Those jeans do look comfy. I haven't heard of the LB jeans, but I swore Nordstrom used to carry that brand.

I'm gonig to look into it. When i was a 14, I wore Joe's Jeans "muse" they were my favorite jeans ever! just don't fit anymore. (I still have them in case i lose weight again).

It depends what syle you like, for me I am tall and I like straight-legged jeans, so I like the ones from Ashley Stewart, they are affordable and I like the look they give my bottom! Good luck on your search

I cry after jean shopping almost every single time! I hate it. I swear jeans are made for size 0 girls and they than just make them wider/longer as the sizes go up so they don't work for any one but the skinny skinny girls!

and i'd like to put an end to the skinny jeans, I love them, but i can't wear them, and I can never find jeans that aren't skinny jeans!

I could rant forever about them but i'll just answer the questions now, I like ricki's jeans ( might only be in Canada though). It seems to be the only place i can occasional find jeans

I love the lane byrant "Seven" jeans. Not all stores carry this line though. I also found a few nice pair at Lord and taylor in the sale rack. Jeans shopping is THE WORST. Lane Bryant is my go to store for most things though.
