need honest opinions...bouquet update

Kristen, on May 2, 2012 at 2:50 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

Ok ladies...I somewhat finished one of the bouquets and would really appreciate some opinions before I start the others. They are a little large because I want to brighten up the black BM dresses. And the burlap and ribbon match the "rustic" theme. Just doesn't seem "right" to me...Any thoughts would be great! TIA

One more...you can't really see a small green ribbon streaming down too

I love the way you wrapped the handle. I think they are cute.

I think it looks great but I would ditch the strands of burlap/ribbon that are hanging down.

Agree with the others, like the wrapping not the hanging burlap. Can you take a pic with that tucked in so we can see what it looks like?

So would i leave the green wrap on the handle and just tuck it under the burlap?

I think that there is just a little too much of the burlap. It gives a nice effect and I wouldn't suggest getting rid of too much, but maybe trim the edges so that they are more rounded and not pointed. I also agree with cutting off the strands. You want to see the burlap stick out from underneath the flowers, but you don't want it to overpower them.

I totally agree - the burlap is just taking over that bouquet. Cut off the hanging bits and trim down the amount around the base of the bouquet. That way you will be able to see the wonderful wrap job you did with the ribbon and the flowers will really pop when they aren't competing with so much burlap.

The bouquet looks fantastic! You did a great job!

Thanks guys..well i took off one layer of burlap and took off the burlap ribbon hanging down. BUT then started messing with it and it became flimsy. (i didn't use a floral cone, just kinda winged it.) SO I started with a different one, but it didn't come out clean looking like the first one was. Basically I like your guys' ideas and think I will use them, but it will be a while before I can get you another pic.

@justine did you remember where you found the similar one? I looked for a while then did my own thing and would like something for inspiration.

and another big thank you to everyone.

I'm not a fan of wrapped bouquets so IDK how much my input will be useful, but I think looks really nice. Have you thought about tying the hanging burlap and ribbon into a bow? The way it hangs right now obscures the nic wrap job you've done IMO.

I agree. Take a layer out from the base, and get rid of the strands. Sometimes simpler is way better!! Great job on the handle!

You can wrap the stems with ribbon before you put the burlap on - that might make it less flimsy? I really do love the colors/flowers in the bouquet.

I love it except for the burlap strand. I would make it a bow or get rid of it

Nice! perhaps trim the burlap squares a bit.. it is a little big in comparison to the flowers.

I agree with most ladies here.. you can go without the burlap strands so that you can see the green ribbon.
