Savvy December 2021

kind of discouraged...

on August 1, 2011 at 4:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I went to David's Bridal this weekend to look for bridesmaids dresses. I knew it would take a while, because I have no idea what I'm looking for. I've decided on a color, but that's about it. My girls tried on everything from short to long, strapless, halter, asymmetrical....and I still have NO idea. It's also hard because I have six bridesmaids of all shapes and sizes. Did you find your dresses the first time you went, or have to make more than one visit?

On the bright side, I found a flower girl dress for my daughter Smiley smile

She INSISTED on wearing the veil with it..

First off - your daughter is absolutely adorable!!!

Second: Have you thought of possibly doing one set color & different dresses? Last wedding I was in had 4 bridesmaids- all of which ranged from size 0 to plus size. Took 2 visits to DB (first time we were a little overwhelmed - second time the bride knew exactly what she wanted) We ended up with this dress:

It looked pretty good on everyone but the plus sized girl felt a little uncomfortable since her ta-tas were in a strapless. (the dress has a built in shelf bra which did help a little bit with her support) The picture shows the plus size & reg. size

    She is adorable!!

I changed my whole color scheme after going to DB twice and Alan Evans and I just couldn't find the right color green I wanted in the dress style. Before I went back to make my final decision on a dress I searched through all kinds of bm dresses online so I could get an idea of what I wanted. My last bridesmaid ordered her dress today and I am sooo happy with them! They work well with my dress and are flattering on all body types!

-Here's a pic of my bridesmaid dresses! GL!

There is also the 'convertable dress' which can be changed into a gazillion different designs so girls will be able to flatter their figure if you wanted to do the same color - different dress route. This is the best website I found that describes them and shows you different ideas... they can be bought at a bunch of different places that fit your budget

I am doing what Kimi suggested to you because I have four bm one is tall and skinny one is short with a few extra pounds one is short and skinny one is tall and on the heavy side and then some like short some like long some like strapless n some like halter lol I want all of my girls to be comfortable that day so I picked my color and we all went together so I could see them and give them my opinion whether or not I liked em and I think that is going to be much better then sticking them all in a dress a few may not like

I found mine from DB online.. you have to look at the "online" link to see them. They just seem to have a better variety online than in store.

I took them all there together, had them try on long dresses and then asked them to pick their top two favorites. 4 of the 5 girls liked one style best. The fifth girl liked that style 2nd best so we went with the first style.

If they had picked different dresses I would have let them get the one they picked. Took the pressure off me for choosing.

I stumbled on this link the other day from an earlier post here (gotta love the search tools). It has TONS of dress options. Maybe it will have something to inspire you!

Dena those are awesome! Thanks for posting that!I'v got bridesmaids that range in height and shape dramatically and those might work out really well. Budget friendly too. I wanted everyone to get something they could wear again as well.

My first wedding 20 years ago! Wow time has flown by... anyway.....all my bridesmaids were one extreme to the next. I just a color and material and I let them choose their own style. Everyone looked great and they were confident and comfortable!

Keep shopping! Something will happen for you.

And your daughter is too cute!! Smiley smile
