Super May 2016

I'd thought I'd join in on something I saw...

SydsMom, on January 26, 2016 at 9:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

So my friend posted this about their upcoming wedding. They are have been dating 2 months, wedding is in April and 10-20 guest max. This popped up in my news feed.

The description says ..." We have decided to have our dream honeymoon at the Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun. Any donation would be so greatly appreciated as we start our lives together at this paradise resort."

While many people were liking it and I clicked on it just to see what it was about. I saw they are already getting gifts. It's bad enough to have this, and even worse that it's asking everyone to get gifts - not even invited. So I sent a personal message and told them they should join WW. Lol. And how this is very rude!

So, not only are they asking for money, but they are sharing the request with everyone on social media???

I think that's the worst one I've seen today. "Yes, please contribute to my honeymoon 200 facebook friends that are obviously not invited to my event." Talk about tacky. :\

They have been dating 2 months and are getting married? And asking for people to pay for their vacation? "Hey aunt Mary, I know you have never met FH but would you please pay for our honeymoon?" Ew.

I feel like social media has completely ruined the definition of the word "donation." I remember when donations used to be for actual worthwhile causes.

This is so bad!! How do people do this and think it's okay. I hope the people who liked it were liking that they picked a honeymoon location and didn't realize they were asking for "donations"
