Are you doing anything special....other than the normal toast, garter/flower toss?

    7. NotFroofy made our wedding cake, which was a cascading cake with a different flavor for each layer, and a traditional Welsh love spoon for the topper.

    8. We had a DIY fauxtobooth, with lots of silly props.

    9. There were no toasts at the second reception, except for our toast to our guests.

For the "father/daughter" dance, FH will dance with my daughter, while I sing "In My Daughter's Eyes"

    1. Our dog will be there

    2. We will have a Jimmy Buffett cover band because our theme is "Margaritaville"

    3. No receiving line (UGH)

    4. We will have a kids activity table/game area for them with a nanny to supervise

    5. Lawn games for those who don't like to dance.

    6. Fabulous custom NON-white beach/margaritaville themed cake with us and our dog on top of it

    7. Lights and lanterns will be hung from the trees

    8. Homemade margarita cake as favors

    9. Limes incorporated in everything from the centerpieces to the placecards

    10. Buffet dinner and Tiki bar!

That's it for now, I'm still working some other things, but OMG I'm looking forward to just having a great time with all my friends and family!

We will be in a room surrounded by fishies! Have live penguins mingling while everyone is seated after we eat, and i will be giving my gramma a pink breast cancer bouquet instead of tossing.

Well ours is a Halloween themed wedding, we are doing a BBQ reception, so there will be lots of tricks and pranks played. I'm trying to find someone who can do a Corpse Bride type of cake. We want to have smores - roast the marshmallows over the wood fire BBQ pit after dinner has been cooked. FH wants to have bobbing for apples, but I know that we'll be having caramel apples - cuz what's Halloween without those? All the guests will be sitting on hay bales so we are trying to figure out a way to divy up all the quilts that I've been busy making to cover the hay bales. Not quite sure what else we'll be doing, but I know there will be something else...

I am probably the only one in my family to have a formal wedding. Most people don't get a caterer, its almost unheard of in my area! We will probably not do a father/daughter dance because my dad passed when I was younger. : (

I am thinking of doing a dance with my Daughter who will be 3 by our wedding date.

I like the bell idea! I don't think my daughter who is/will be one when we are married will get the concept of just carrier her flower girl basket. Plus, I don't want her eating the petals!

Our reception is going to be nothing more than a big backyard bonfire and bbq! Loads of family and nothing but good times!

We had a wishing well... with business cards for people to give advice, etc. Some of the best were written by my 6 yo ring bearer and 7 yo nephew-in-law and 9 yo fg. (There were pics of them doing it.) Kids are the wisest! I had coloring books and crayons for the five kids that were there. My cake topper was the groom, fishing... reeling the bride in. I was 45 first marriage.

We had one of the best bands in our area, a 10 piece with horn section.. was a ton of fun. My rb and his sisters sang "you belong to me", to me. Brought the house down. I had a mother and son dance. My father was in a walker and couldn't dance. I had my brother/best friend dance with my mom to "Wind beneath my wings.", dedicated by me. I would have loved to have done the bouquet, giving it to her. Ironically, only two ladies got out on the dance floor for the bouquet toss. My niece/God child caught it and is getting married in June. The other lady was my BM and she got married this past weekend

We are getting married at a musem that my dad use to work where they dress up in in 1800's clothes so we will have a fiddler, people dressed in customs, tin laterns for centerpieces. its pretty much going to look like little house on the prairie

Told ya'll there would be something else.... we just came up with this idea tonight.... I am making 22 quilts for guests use to sit on. We are using hay bales as seating at the ceremony. Originally we were going to donate all these quilts, but instead we are going to hold a silent auction and use the money towards our honeymoon. Any quilts that are not sold will then be donated to a local Vet's hospital or the local children's cancer hospital ward up at Stanford. I will be posting the pics of the quilts on my website so the guests will know about this ahead of time. Here's a couple of pics of some of the quilts that I have done already.

I'm so glad you brought this up... if you are looking for ideas and aren't sure where to go with this, pick up Peter Merry's "The Best Wedding Reception....Ever!" It's a MUST READ for anyone planning a fun wedding.

The book has some great ideas and information from perhaps the leading DJ in the Wedding business. Some ideas might be a little over the top... some might be simple. Either way, it's worth the few dollars' investment.
