DIY ; Programs

It's WAY too early for that.

Why would you even be thinking of this yet?

Im just trying to get ideas cause it takes a loooonnnngggg time for me to finally deicde on something thats all geee.

Ha! My wedding is after yours and I already have mine planned!

I am doing fan programs with the program on one side and a customized word find/crossword on the other. I plan to get those fun (and super cheap) customizable pencils and tie them to the program with ribbon.

If you do a quick search on this forum, you'll see many amazing DIY programs.

Caroline....That sounds wonderful.

Lucinda....When you do that google search, check out Hayley's suggestions using vistaprint.com.

Look as Hayley's links at the fan program template, it's really easy to work with and I'm hoping they come out great because that's what we've decided to do.

LOL @Lucinda & Caroline P. As you can see, my wedding is next June and my programs are pretty much completed as far as design. I have purchased program covers and all I have to do is fill in final details as the date gets closer.

I am very anal and I just dont want to wait until the last moment to do some things. I am a planner and NEED all my ducks in a row!

@ Beth - I am just like u i like to plan a head. & to get all the details & have everything ready when it comes time to do it.

Here's a picture of mine, the inside just flips open and has the details of the wedding. You can see the light blue "the marriage of" better in person. It's not that light. =)

Programs should not be printed until right around the last couple of weeks. This is because you may have to make last minute changes when musicians cancel, singers can't learn songs, and ushers back out. I have honestly never done a program that didn't have to be changed at the last minute, no matter how well-planned the timeline and event is. It is fine to look around and get ideas now, but I would recommend against ordering anything for programs until the last couple of months.

@ King Designs - I was thinking on doing just DIY wedding programs

My wedding won't be until next spring/summer ... once we secure the sites I'll be starting on the Programs because they'll be booklets. Catholic weddings can be long -especially for those who don't share the same faith. We decided to have a booklet type program so our guests will be able to follow along and understand what is going on.

I figured i'd get the basic structure (back & front covers and labels) completed as well as the mass information (most catholic wedding mass are the same except the readings). The filler info will be put in about a month before the big day. If I get the boring parts completed now its one less thing I'll have to do later. Below is similar to what we're creating ..

So kudos on starting your programs now rather then waiting for the last second Lucinda!

I've been working on the wording and layout for mine, but that's all. I'm NO where near putting it together or the final copy yet. Besides what's wrong with a head start and having something ready to go when the time gets closer so all you have to do is change a name or location?

Good for you for starting early! My wedding is in 2013 and it def hasn't stopped me looking at things for inspiration and planning in general! Check out etsy for great ideas also.
